Everton: Final hurdle emerges in 777 Partners takeover news at Goodison Park
The final hurdle for 777 Partners to overcome ahead of their proposed takeover of Everton has emerged as they must still convince the Premier League, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The newspaper reported via its website on 28 March that convincing the league of their suitability is the last significant hurdle, but is proving to be an issue.
This has come after the group met with the Premier League recently, in a move that was considered to be the beginning of the end of the ongoing takeover process.
Can 777 Partners complete their Everton takeover?
This all comes in the days following the Premier League’s letter sent to 777, Moshiri and Everton, detailing that the group had been granted conditional approval to complete the takeover deal at Goodison Park, but those conditions were previously undisclosed.
The Esk insisted the remaining condition in the way of the takeover is that the league must be convinced 777 can repay the club’s existing creditors, with Farhad Moshiri and MSP Sports Capital still needing loan repayments.
One source from 777 recently spoke out to explain that they do not expect a formal decision from the Premier League before the club’s second profit and sustainability hearing, pushing it back beyond Easter and into April.
While it is clarified that this deal does not mean the takeover is completed, it remains unclear where the club stand over the takeover, with 777 still left yet to convince the Premier League of their suitability.
