We were lucky to go at this time when the weather was just perfect, the crowd wasn’t that many. The staff were able to control the coming and going on the viewing deck. The 360 view of the ground below and the whole city was just beautiful. Plus, we didn’t get to pay extra to be at the very top , because there was an event at the lower portion of the viewing deck, so to access the top deck was complimentary at that time.

Excellent produce market in old Toronto. Great selection of meats, fish cheese and a really nice ambiance. Home also of the famous bacon sandwich and it doesn't disappoint. Opens at nine in the morning.
This is a good market but having recently been to Valencia market it pales.

Back here at ROM on Tue, Dec 19, for another 3rd Tuesday Night Free event (4:30PM-8:30PM). We arrived before 5PM, Queen's Park museum entrance was locked (with a note to use main entrance) so had to go around the block to Bloor St W to get in. Futalognkosaurus area of the main lobby was quite busy. Apparently, we weren't the only ones who planned a free night at the museum. We headed straight to the elevators to get to level 3 where we had a quick look at the European period rooms and current life jacket art installation. Got a little lost when we couldn't locate some Asia exhibits we've seen last time. Encountered some closed off galleries so went back to the elevator lobby. Son volunteered to grab a map guide before we continued on. We then took a peek at Byzantium, Rome and Egypt galleries then segued to gender-neutral washrooms with multiple private stalls equipped with touchless toilet, faucet and hand dryer, still on level 3. From here, we found our way to the Rotunda where we posed for photos with the lovely mosaic dome as background. We headed to the newest permanent gallery on level 2, unveiled in Dec 2021, Dawn of Life, where we saw Fractofusus and a massive Dunkleosteus fish bronze cast. At the end of this gallery is a set of doors that open directly to where Gordo the Barosaurus is located. Of course, a visit to the Age of Dinosaurs gallery wouldn't be complete without a brief stop at the T-Rex. However, it got crowded here pretty fast so we left after a couple of obligatory photos. We only stayed an hour inside the museum so admittedly didn't see a lot. We plan to visit ROM again to explore those permanent galleries we haven't seen in years.

    Free on Wednesday Nights.

This is a great gallery from ancient art to modern art.
There are not just painting/pictures there are installations where you can take Instagram pictures with.

Also there are some VERY famous artists housed in here. If you go, can you spot them?

Wednesday night was really busy and mostly filled with students which was great to see.

There is a trans art installation which is great to view from anyone art of the LBGTQIA+ community.

Gift shop at the end was big and has some great items for sale.

If you're a hockey fan, this is a must!!! Well worth the price of admission!. The exhibits are impressive, and you relieve the history of hockey. To see the trophies, the Stanley Cup. Impressive!! A must! The interactive shooting simulators are awesome.

I was there for Blue Jays as a fan of a baseball team for the first time in my life. Although I found baseball quite boring, I enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks, especially Blue Jay's special edition beers served there.

I had such a great time at the matinee of Six at the Royal Alex Theatre. We took the Go to Union Station and walked to the theatre. We stopped to eat at The Loose Moose and it was fabulous. The Royal Alex has nice seats and they are a decent size. A larger/taller person could be comfortable here.

A great mix of stores over different levels and different price ranges.
Food court at the bottom, pretty big.

Lots of scaffolding. Not sure if it’s been there long or not but that part wasn’t great.

Mom and daughter attended To Kill a Mockingbird and were thoroughly impressed with the cast and the set design and for their second show last night, off without a hitch and so enjoyable! I loved the book by Harper Lee and was so impressed how the messaging of racism and community forgiveness was such a strong message in the show. They nailed the story and received a standing ovation. Richard Thomas as the !star was a perfect pick for Atticus and Melanie Moore as Scout was spot on! All the cast were brilliant in their roles.

Staff at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre from coat check to pouring wine were efficient and friendly. During intermission they even had a bathroom attendant waving us in the open cubicles to speed the line up. Very much appreciated. Only poor comment is that the seats are narrow and no individual arm rests.

Thank-you for a lovely show and experience!

It's one of the top universities in Toronto and North America. It's surrounded by greenery. While lying on the grass, you can enjoy the view of CN Tower.

The Best way to watch the Raptors game. The atmosphere that the fans brought makes it an unparalleled experience. There was a broad selection of food. Had a wonderful time despite the loss.

This is Toronto's attempt to create an Old-World, European civic centre experience in a New-World, North American setting.
it was a noble experiment, begun way back in the 'dark' ages, when Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-Arctic-coast universally despised Canada's largest city, and called it "Toronto-the-Good" (at best), and "Hogtown" (most of the rest of the time....)
In a bold attept to 'modernize', the city fathers -- and sadly, there were few city mothers, back then -- decided to hire an Icelandic architect to design a "new" City Hall.... It dominates the north side of the square.
The ancient Victorian city hall (on the east side) is infinitely more architecturally attractive. Somehow, it has miraculously survived the wrecking cranes -- with a tallish clock tower, and a bell that rings the time accurately, every fifteen minutes... most of the time.
On the west side is Osgoode Hall, surrounded by a beautiful (but successfully imposing) 19th-century rot iron fence. It's home to the Law Society of Upper Canada. Unless you're a lawyer, don't even begin to ask what that means, or who they are.... Simply trying to get into the buidling could result in an immediate ticket to JAIL -- Do not pass GO! Do not collect $200!
To the south is Queen Street -- a major east/west throroughfare, with one of the city's very few 24-hour StreetCar routes. It will take you from "the Beaches" in the extreme east end, to almost any destination you can possibly image in the wild, Wild West.
It's twenty-five kilometres long, and would provide an excellent -- and CHEAP! -- first-time tourist introduction to many aspects of the contemporary city.
In the NW quarter of Nathan Phillips Square is a large bronze scupture called "The Archer" by British artist Henry Moore. It was commissioned by Toronto City Council, under then Mayor Nathan Phillips, when the new city hall was being planned and built. The Archer alone is worth the price of admission -- which happens to be free, 24/7, twelve months of the year.
Shortly after the piece was commissioned, the city fathers learned that Mr. Moore had already agreed to sell and send a second bronze casting of the same piece to another city , somewhere in Scandinavia. When the good citzens of "Toronto the Good" got wind of this artistic dupliity, they rose up and raised significant funds -- several millions of dollars, by today's standards! -- to compensate the creator for any out-out-pocket expenses he might incur by not making a copy....
Moore was so impressed that he later donated the bulk of his lifelong sculptural output to the Art Gallery of Ontario, which is within walking distance of "The Square" itself!
By far the best time to visit is in the middle of a cold Canadian winter, when the sizeable reflecting pool in the middle is magically transformed into a public skating rink. Recent mmigrants from around the world lace up rented blades, and achieve honourary Canadian citizenship by ankle skating -- with smiles that stretch from ear-to-ear, for hours and hours!
To visit there and then is to experience the "heart" of Canada!
