April 21, 1951:

Anthony Salvatore Iadanza is born in the East New York section of Brooklyn, New York.

1965:

Tony’s family moves to the suburban Long Island town of Malverne, New York.

1968:

Tony graduates from Malverne High School.

1971:

Tony’s son, Marc Anthony Danza, is born.

1972:

Tony graduates from the University of Dubuque with a bachelor’s degree in history.

1975-1978:

Tony boxes in Golden Gloves.

Tony plays the role of Tony Banta on ABC’s hit sitcom Taxi, alongside Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch, Marilu Henner, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Conaway, and Andy Kaufman.

1980:

Tony stars as Duke, opposite Michelle Pfeiffer, in Columbia Pictures’ The Hollywood Knights.

1984-1992:

Tony plays the role of Tony Micelli on ABC’s hit sitcom Who’s the Boss?

June 28, 1986:

Tony marries Tracy Robinson.

1987:

Tony and Tracy welcome their first daughter, Katie.

1989:

Tony stars in Columbia Pictures’ She’s Out of Control.

1993:

Tony and Tracy welcome their second daughter, Emily.

1993:

For his theatrical debut, Wrong Turn at Lungfish, Tony earns an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination.

1994:

Tony plays the role of Mel Clark in Disney’s Angels in the Outfield, opposite Danny Glover.

1997:

Tony stars as Juror #7 in MGM’s William Friedkin-directed film 12 Angry Men, along with George C. Scott, Jack Lemmon, and James Gandolfini.

December 14, 1997-August 30, 1998:

Tony stars on Broadway as Eddie in Arthur Miller’s Tony Award-winning play A View from the Bridge.

April 8, 1999-July 17, 1999:

Tony stars on Broadway as Rocky Pioggi in The Iceman Cometh, opposite Kevin Spacey.

1998:

Tony receives an Emmy nomination for his performance on David E. Kelley’s award-winning series The Practice.

2000-2002:

Tony plays the role of attorney Joe Celano on CBS’s Paul Haggis-created dramatic series Family Law.

2004:

Tony plays a small but surprising role in Paul Haggis’s Academy Award-winning film Crash.

2004-2006:

Tony hosts The Tony Danza Show, a daily morning talk show broadcast live from New York City.

August 27, 2005:

Tony becomes a grandfather for the first time when son Marc Anthony Danza and his wife, Julie, welcome baby Nicholas David.

2006-2007:

Tony plays the role of Max Bialystock in Mel Brooks’s hit musical The Producers.

2010:

Tony fulfills a lifelong desire to be a teacher and takes on his hardest and most rewarding role yet, working as a tenth-grade English teacher at Philadelphia’s Northeast High School. A&E airs his experience in a limited seven part documentary series called Teach.

2011:

August 18, 2011:

Tony becomes a grandfather again when Marc and Julie welcome their second child, Lucas.

2012:

Tony plays the role of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s father in Levitt’s feature directorial debut, entitled Don Jon. The film also stars Julianne Moore and Scarlett Johansson, and will be released in 2013.

ABC television network and ABC studio announces it is developing a project entitled The Guys, which is being developed to be Tony Danza’s return to half hour multi-cam comedy. Link to Variety for the story

Tony announces he is developing and attached to star in a musical adaptation of the 1992 hit comedy Honeymoon in Vegas

Crown Publishing (a division of Random House) releases Tony’s book, I’d Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High, a much buzzed about and critically acclaimed reflection of his experience teaching for a year. The book premiers on the New York Times Best Sellers list at number 16.

2013:

Don Jon premières at Sundance Film Festival and sells to Relativity Media in one of the biggest deals in Sundance history. Danza receives awesome reviews for his performance. Here are a few of our favorite quotes:

Sept 26 to Oct 27, 2013:

The pre-Broadway run of HONEYMOON IN VEGAS at the Paper Mill Playhouse receives amazing buzz and reviews, especially Tony’s performance which earns him numerous comparisons to the legendary Frank Sinatra. The show stars Tony Danza, Tony Award nominee Rob McClure (CHAPLIN), and Brynn O’Malley (ANNIE), with music and lyrics by Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (PARADE, THE LAST FIVE YEARS).

November, 2013:

Weinstein Company releases a documentary entitled 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief about their historic charity concert at Madison Square Garden. Tony was amongst the iconic celebrities who participated in the event and has one of the most poignant moments in the documentary, in which Tony reminds people of the forgotten motto of America, “E pluribus unum,” or “out of many one.” You can catch him in the trailer if you haven’t seen the film yet.
