Social media users were left in tears of joy after Outlander star Tim Downie shared his seven-year-old daughter's list of 'happy facts'. 

The father-of-two, from Hertfordshire, took to Twitter to share a snapshot of the sheet of A4 that explored eight heart-warming observations about the animal kingdom.

His unnamed daughter's musings included 'Seahorses get married and swim together' and 'Cows moo with different accents'.  

The 43-year-old, who has starred in box office hits such as Les Miserables and The King's Speech, was quickly met with a wave of support as his daughter was praised for being 'a genuine philosopher'.

Tim uploaded the photo alongside a caption that read: 'My 7-year-old had to write 8 Happy Facts for her school’s @HappyNewspaper_. Thought I’d share the happy.'

The first three facts were that 'turtles can breathe through their bottoms', 'seahorses get married and swim together' and that 'penguins stay together for life'.

The little girl then wrote that 'sunshine and warm weather makes people friendly' and added that 'your dog dreams about you'.

She concluded the adorable list with the facts that 'cows moo with different accents', 'earthworms have five hearts' and 'smiling makes you feel happy'.

Each happy fact was accompanied with a delicate hand-drawn illustration. 

And Tim was quickly swamped with support on the post which has since been liked more than 14,000 times.

One social media user light-heartedly branded the little girl 'a genuine philosopher'.

Another added: 'I think if anyone's struggling with their day they should look at the lovely work your daughter has done here.

And a third said: 'Thank you for sharing this bit of joy. Much needed on a grey wintery day amidst lockdown. 

'Your girl is a welcome ray of sunshine. You must be so proud, she is brilliant and magical.'
