Tim Daly

James Timothy Daly was born on March 1, 1956 in New York City and is famous for being an entertainer. He is an American voice actor, director and stage actor. He is known for doing the voice for Superman in the popular kids show, Superman: The animated series.

Background

Both the father and mother of Tim were once actors. His father was James Daly while his mother is Mary Hope Daly. Tyne Daly, is the older sister of Tim and is also an actor. Acting seems to run in the Daly family. Apart from Tyne, he has two other sisters, Mary Glynn and Pegeen Michael. Mary is the wife of Mark Snow.

His father was best recognized for his character as Dr. Paul Lochner in the drama series called Medical Center. He acted as the superior to Chad Everett. During his acting career, he won various awards and got many nominations. The series “Medical Center” ended and two years later, he died of a heart failure in Nyack, New York. His ashes were thrown into the Atlantic Ocean

Tim attended the Putney School and this was where he began his study in acting. He later went to Bennington College, located in Bennington, Vermont. In 1979, after the completion of his college program, he was awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Literature. He eventually went back to New York to further develop his study in acting and singing.

Acting Career

He had the dream of becoming a sport personality or dive into music. He also had the ambition of becoming a lawyer or a doctor, but in the end he decided on going for acting. Tim started his acting career at age seven on a stage. He acted with his two sisters and his parents in “Jenny Kissed Me”. Three years later, he made his first appearance on television in an American Playhouse adaption by Henrik Ibsen known as “An Enemy of the People”. This film also included his father in the cast.

His professional acting career began in 1978 in the play “Equus”, which was an adaptation of Peter Shaffer’s play. The first movie, which he was the lead role was in “Diner”. This film was directed by Barry Levinson. Other actors that acted in this movie include Mickey Rourke and Kevin Bacon.

In the sitcom “Wings”, he co-starred with Steven Weber and this show ran between the 19th of April, 1990 and the 14th of May, 1997 on NBC. In the sitcom, he and Steven acted as brothers, Joe and Brian Hackett. Apart from this, he has starred in many movies and sitcoms, which have made up a very long resume. He has had years of experience because of all the credits that he has built up during his long and fruitful career.
