Tim Curry, 77, still enjoys work and stays active despite stroke that left him wheelchair-bound years ago

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tim Curry is a legend, whose works have continued to speak for him even after decades. The actor has been facing mobility issues for the last decade, but he still keeps active.

Born in 1946, the English actor has played iconic roles in films like ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’, ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, and ‘Titanic’, over the years.

Curry is also known for his singing skills, which reportedly landed him his very first job just a day after reaching London.

‘All Tim had to do was just sing’

His friend Patrick Barlow shared with The Guardian in 2006, “We were going to join this street theatre troupe in Chalk Farm. Someone had told us about it - none of us really knew how to get in anything in those days."

“We got there and of course, I was the only one who stayed,” he recalled. “Tim and Judy got a job in Hair the next day. All Tim had to do was just sing, of course, and Judy just had to say, hello, I'm here."

At the time, Barlow also opened up about the time he spent with Curry at Birmingham University in the late 60s.

He said, “I remember being amazed by his extraordinary singing voice - it was just completely perfect, just something he was born with - it came ready-made.”

The comedian added, “We would go to university parties and end up having a drink and whatever and he would break out into song, this marvelous bluesy voice.”

‘It is just part of my DNA’

However, the ‘Clue’ actor faced a major setback in 2012 when he suffered a stroke, which left him wheelchair-bound.

Though Curry had to struggle a lot after the health scare, he did not lose his sense of humor.

He once reportedly noted, “I’m doing well and I’m looking forward to it. It’s not tough to maintain. It is just part of my DNA.”

In 2018, Curry said, “I do try to look on the bright side of life because I think it’s dull and annoying to look on the dark side of life and you’re no fun to be with. And I think that’s a personal responsibility of everyone.”

Tim Curry still leads an active life

Despite the stroke, the ‘Muppet Treasure Island’ star has not let his guard down completely as he continues to attend public events. 

He also does charity work. Curry reportedly stated, “I’ve done a few benefits for the Actors Fund and I think it’s a marvelous organization. I hope not to have to use it.”

Besides, his biography reportedly mentions, “Since 2016 Tim has been appearing at Conventions to meet his fans and pose for photos and he continues to take part in private autograph signings each month.”

“Tim has traveled extensively across the USA and Canada to make special guest appearances at large-scale events such as Comic Con, MegaCon, GalaxyCon, and Fan eXpo,” it adds.
