AUGUSTA, Ga. — After a record-setting performance in the first two rounds – and a less-flattering personal record in the third round – the Big Cat was back on the prowl on Sunday at one of his favorite courses.

Tiger Woods set the all-time record for consecutive cuts made at the Masters on Friday with 24 but followed that with his worst-ever score at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday, a dismal 10-over 82 (his sixth round in the 80s in pro golf).

Sitting T-52 at 11 over par for the tournament to start the day, Woods teed off at 9:35 p.m. ET alongside the only amateur to make the cut, Neal Shipley, in the fourth round on Sunday.

Tiger chalked up Saturday’s historic struggles to a bad warmup session, hitting shots to “all the places that I know I shouldn’t hit it” and a marathon 23-hole Friday that physically wore him out.

“My team will get me ready,” he said Saturday afternoon for his status on Sunday. “It will be a long night and a long warmup session, but we’ll be ready.”

The good news is it can’t get much worse. The earlier, brisk conditions aren’t ideal for his surgically repaired and held-together body so I’m expecting him to gingerly make his way around the first few holes before it really warms up. It seemed like his back was more of an issue than his leg on Saturday, but only time will tell. Augusta National isn’t an easy walk, but he’s only got 18 more holes to get through.

Oh yeah, and he had a little emotional support on the range as he was joined by his son, Charlie Woods.

Hole 1 – Par 4: Tea Olive

First round: Birdie
Second round: Par
Third round: Par

And we’re off! Tiger has historically played this hole an abysmal 18 over par, but he’s 1 under this week. Tiger found the fairway in prime spot to attack the back pin, perched atop a plateau, but his approach landed on the green and just leaked off the edge. He hit a nifty chip from there to run about four feet short and got in for par to start the day. Nice and smooth. And he’s moving pretty well, too.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even through 1 (11 over for the tournament)

Hole 2 – Par 5: White Dogwood

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Par

Tiger slung a beauty of a draw down the left side of the fairway here to set up a great angle to the green to get on in two. From there he almost played the contour of the putting surface to perfection as he tried to catch the slope and run it along the left-to-right break. Like a thirty kid it just didn’t have enough juice but he’s putting for eagle. His lengthy effort form outside 40 feet checks up short, gave this one a lot of respect with pace, but it set up an easy four footer for birdie to get in the (Sunday) red numbers early.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under through 2 (10 over for the tournament)

Hole 3 – Par 4: Flowering Peach

First round: Par
Second round: Birdie
Third round: Par

Tiger hit a great tee shot here on the short par 4 that came up just short of the massive slope guarding the front of the green. He made his first unforced error of the day as he got too cute with this attempt and tried to bump it into the hill, but he didn’t get enough of it and watched the ball roll back down the slope to his feet. His second effort was nearly perfect as he scared the hole and almost canned it.

He wasn’t going to leave it short so this shot ran a good 10 feet past the cup, and his par save ran just low and left of the hole. That’s a tap-in bogey, disappointing after the great tee shot.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even through 3 (11 over for the tournament)

Hole 4 - Par 3: Flowering Crab Apple

First round: Bogey
Second round: Bogey
Third round: Bogey

First par 3 of the day for Tiger and this is a great swing to find the green. The pin is located on the back-left of the putting surface and Tiger’s pin-high with a good look at birdie. There’s gonna be a little movement to this putt, but shouldn’t be too much.

From 24 feet he had a great line but just didn’t pair the pasta with the sauce and left this one short (story of the week). No-nonsense par and we’re moving on.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even through 4 (11 over for the tournament)

Hole 5 - Par 4: Magnolia

First round: Par
Second round: Bogey
Third round: Birdie

Tiger lost his tee shot to the right in the woods and it was unplayable, and because he wasn’t able to take a drop in that area he had to go back to the tee and hit his third from there.

After a short cart ride to save some unnecessary steps he went back to the tee and then hit a gem down the right side of the short stuff. Where was that the first time? His approach leaked to the right and just hung on to the edge of the green, but he’s got some serious work to do to save par. There’s a big ridge and the hole is on the opposite side of a downslope and it won’t be easy to make the put, or keep close for that matter.

The first two feet are uphill, and the last 15 are downhill. He aimed way, way out to the right, like Donald Trump levels of right, and it looked like it was going to stop at the top of the slope. But he played it just about perfect as the ball slowly but surely kept moving and moving until it caught the downslope and released to inside 10 feet. Golf shot. He just missed the right edge and that’s a triple bogey. Woof.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3 over through 5 (14 over for the tournament)

Hole 6 - Par 3: Juniper

First round: Par
Second round: Birdie
Third round: Bogey

Tiger pulls 8 iron and it probably should’ve been 7. This is a full club short and got a bad kick backward and to the left to leave a testy chip to the back-right pin location. Tiger clipped this one perfectly and left it just a few feet below the hole. Useful. We’ll call this the Ryan Reynolds putt because it was a dead pull (get it, Deadpool?) to the left. Another bad bogey and his body language is oozing frustration.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 6 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 7 - Par 4: Pampas

First round: Par
Second round: Bogey
Third round: Double bogey

Laid back here with 3 wood and carved a pretty-looking cut down the right side of the fairway. He’s making unforced efforts after great tee shots early and needs to get dialed approaching the green. He’s got some over-hanging limbs in his line, so he needed to hit a cut to this green but he’s talking to himself immediately and hates it. “Oh, Tiger. Go hard. Go hard.” It did not. Drops this one in the bunker with little green to work with and will have a real difficult up and down to save par.

LOL. Difficult. He’s Tiger Woods and did Tiger Woods things. Splashed this out to perfection (chef’s kiss) and landed it just inches off the edge of the bunker and fringe and watched as it slowly trickled to kick-in range for par. That was finger-licking good.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 7 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 8 - Par 5: Yellow Jasmine

First round: Birdie
Second round: Birdie
Third round: Double bogey

Tiger didn’t like something in his setup and backed off the tee shot here at No. 8 to collect himself. When he got back to business he blew one right and bounced it off a patron right of the bunkers guarding the edge of the fairway in the first cut. He’s got a great even lie over there and with 254 yards to the front of the green he pulls lumber and smacks a 3 wood up close to the green, just a little right. Great recovery shot. Pitches this one up onto the putting surface but leaves it a good 20-plus feet from the pin. The birdie putt was like a Vegas slot machine game, no dice. It’s a good two-putt effort, but he needed birdie from that spot.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 8 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 9 - Par 4: Carolina Cherry

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Bogey

Tiger hit a b-e-a-utiful fade down the right side of the fairway, but like a well-done steak this one was overcooked for the line and rolled into the pine star behind a tree. Tough break. Not a bad shot from there as Tiger’s approach clings to the edge of the green, leaving a good 40-plus feet to the hole. Tiger’s lag putt once again is short of the hole and he really didn’t give this one much of a scare for birdie. Simple two-putt par to close out the first (not front) nine and take his talents around the turn.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 9 (15 over for the tournament)

Thoughts at the turn

Tiger’s moving really well all things considered, especially after how rough he looked yesterday. He started the day hitting 3-of-4 fairways but finished the opening nine by finding just one of his last three. Not ideal. He’s only found two of the nine greens in regulation, and that triple bogey on No. 5 was really deflating. Gotta give it to the guy, though, he’s grinding out there to finish in his 100th round.

I wouldn’t expect much from the afternoon, but you never know, he is Tiger Woods after all. Maybe he’s got a little magic left to do something special down the stretch.

Hole 10 - Par 4: Camellia

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Par

YAHTZEE! Tiger smashed a draw down the left side of the fairway and that thing ran off the downslope of the fairway like it owed him money. That’s a 324-yard tee ball. Boomin’. From the fairway he hit a pin-high approach about 15 feet right of the pin for one of his best looks at birdie today. Tidy little shot there. Another putt left short. This one was tracking but just didn’t have the roll to get there. Story of the week. Par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 10 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 11 - Par 4: White Dogwood

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Par

Say your prayers, boys and girls. Welcome to Amen Corner.

Tiger hit a mashed potatoes drive down right down the middle of the short stuff here and it rolled out to 327 yards. With 190 yards to the front pin Tiger stared this one down and thought he might’ve flagged it, but it’s a club too long and stops above the hole by a good 30 feet. Not bad considering short could be problematic, but this’ll be a fun putt back to the hole. Had some considerable movement and he had the right pace, just not the right line. Two-putt par and we’re off to the 12th.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 11 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 12 - Par 3: Golden Bell

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Bogey

Grip it. Rip it. Twirl it. Bop it. Not sure this was twirl-worthy as he landed his tee shot on the edge of the green just over the bunker guarding the front half, but it’s the first time he’s hit the green this week at No. 12 so why not let one fly. I don’t even need to tell you what happened, because if you’ve been following Tiger at all over the last three days you know what he did: Left the birdie putt short. Unlike yesterday he was able to clean up for par and avoid the blemish, though, and now makes the long walk uphill to the 13th tee.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 12 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 13 - Par 4: Azalea

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Birdie

Lays back again here with 3 wood off the tee at the 13th and hit a pretty good one up the right side of the fairway. He’ll have 292 yards to the green and spent a good amount of time going over yardages and options with caddie Lance Bennett. He pulls iron with the ball a good foot above his feet and lays up in a prime spot to flip a wedge in and set up a birdie.

Tiger hit a good shot here and stopped his wedge around 15 or so feet left of the pin, and you guessed it, left the birdie putt a revolution or two short. Again. Just can’t make any putts.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 13 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 14 - Par 4: Chinese Fir

First round: Bogey
Second round: Bogey
Third round: Bogey

Driver. Launched. Fairway. His upper-body strength is really compensating for his lack of power from his legs these days. He isn’t as fluid as he once was but he’s still just as powerful. WOW. He literally flagged this approach and one-hops it off the stick and caught a brutal break as it rolled a good 30 feet away for birdie. Who knows, maybe it could’ve kicked off the back but from 156 yards it had some spin. One of his best putts for birdie this week that hasn’t fallen missed high on the pro side but was tracking the entire way. Good par off a tough break.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 over through 14 (15 over for the tournament)

Hole 15 - Par 5: Firethorn

First round: Par
Second round: Birdie
Third round: Bogey

In 99 previous rounds on No. 15 Tiger is a whopping 55 under. Is that any good? He pulled 3 wood off the tee and found the dead center of the fairway and then laid up down the left side short of the pond guarding the green from there. He hit his best shot of the week here on Friday and stuck a 3 wood on the green, but he went with the safe route today. His third missed the green to the left and his fourth only got inside 10 feet. Not much to say about this, misses the par save and drops another stroke on a par 5. That ain’t gonna cut it, folks.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5 over through 15 (16 over for the tournament)

Hole 16 - Par 3: Redbud

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Bogey

It’s a gorgeous day here at Augusta National so Tiger decided to go have a little fun in the sun on the beach at the par-3 16th. The back-left pin location is guarded by a bunker and Tiger didn’t have much green to work with from there, but he played the slope behind the hole to near perfection. He splashed his ball a good 10 feet past the cup and watched as it trickled down the slope and nearly dropped for birdie. Instead it’s another par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5 over through 16 (16 over for the tournament)

Hole 17 - Par 4: Nandina

First round: Par
Second round: Par
Third round: Bogey

Tiger’s starting to feel it again off the tee as he hits another great shot down the fairway here at No. 17. He’s making the most of these last few holes and shared a nice moment with a retiring Verne Lundquist as he walked to the tee.

His approach to the back-right pin was good, but anything to the right of the hole is bound to fall off the slope and that’s exactly what happened. Everything has been short this week and this chip is the same, rolling a good few feet below the hole.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5 over through 17 (16 over for the tournament)

Hole 18 - Par 4: Holly

First round: Bogey
Second round: Par
Third round: Par

Last hole of the week for Tiger and he hits a gem of a tee shot down the left side of the fairway. His approach was good, not great, and landed on the green but was too low and didn’t hold its position and rolled off the edge. From there he did Tiger Woods things and nearly holed out for birdie, but instead left a tap-in for par to close out what could’ve been a memorable week but will now be largely forgettable.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5-over 77 (16 over for the tournament)
