Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Melville Dill OBE (23 December 1876 – 7 March 1945) was a member of the Dill family which had established itself in Bermuda since the 1630s. [1] He was a prominent lawyer, politician and soldier, having served with the Bermuda Contingent, Royal Garrison Artillery (Bermuda MIlitia Artillery) of the British Army in the First World War. [1]
His parents were Mary Lea (née Smith) and Thomas Newbold Dill. [1]

He married Ruth Rapalje Neilson 15 October 1902 in St. Peter's Church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Perth Amboy, N. J. , Oct 15. - Miss Ruth Rappalje Neilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. Bayard Neilson, was married this evening to Thomas Melville Dill of Bermuda. The ceremony was performed in St. Peter's Church by the Rev. James L. Lancaster. The bridesmaids were Helena and Katharine Neilson, sisters of the bride. The best man was Dalton Parmily of Oceanic, N. J. The ushers were Carl Schneider and Percy Butler of New York; Philip Smith of Bermuda, and Neilson Rice of New Brunswick, N. J. A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. After an extended tour of the United States, Mr. and Mrs. Dill will take up their residence in Bermuda, where Mr. Dill practices law. The bride is a member of the old New Brunswick family to which Miss Cathleen Neilson, the fiancée of Reginald Vanderbilt, belongs. [2]
