Crozon to represent Canada in 3×3 Olympic Qualifier

Humbolt’s Paige Crozon will look to help qualify Team Canada for the Paris Olympics at the FIBA 3×3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2 in Utsunomiya and Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.

The event will take place from May 3 to 5, with Canada competing in Pool B against Kenya, Netherlands and Australia.

To qualify for the Olympics, Canada must finish first in the tournament.

Getzlaf’s Canada’s management group lead and player relations advisor

Ryan Getzlaf, who hails from Regina, was named the management group lead and player relations advisor for Canada’s National men’s hockey team for 2024 IIHF World Championship, taking place May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.

Canada’s team roster is yet to be announced.

Regina Rebels claim first gold at Esso Cup

The Regina Rebels captured their first-ever Esso Cup, defeating the North York Storm 2-1 in the gold medal final of the Women’s U18 National Club Championship in Vernon, B.C.

Pilot Butte’s Berlin Lolacher scored the opening goal for the Rebels in the second period, with teammate Stryker Zablocki of Prince Albert scoring what would prove to the eventual game winner just two minutes later.

Zablocki was named the tournament MVP, while Lolacher took home Top Forward honours.The Rebels achieved mixed results in preliminary action, going 3-2 before advancing to semifinals to defeat British Colombia 4-1..

McQueen, Hamilton with Canada’s U18 hockey team dominate preliminary rounds

Saskatoon’s Roger McQueen and Whitewood’s Reese Hamilton joined Team Canada for a strong start at 2024 IIHF U18 World Hockey Championship in Espoo and Vantaa, Finland.

Canada had a clean sweep in the preliminary rounds, defeating Sweden 6-3, Czechia 6-0, Switzerland 8-1 and Kazakhstan 11-3.

Prior to the game against Switzerland, Hockey Canada announced that McQueen would no longer be participating in the championship due to injury.

Quarterfinals are set to begin May 2, with the matchups still to be decided.

Stewart finds podium at international diving invitational

Lila Stewart travelled from Regina to represent Canada in the synchronized 3-metre springboard event at the Dresden International Invitation in Germany.

Joined by Quebec partner, Mathilde Laberge, the duo claimed 254.70 total points to claim gold.
