This movie has an All Star Cast, but I won't watch it again. Cameron Diaz plays a Blind Woman. Worth a view, for the subject matters for each character. I donated mine to my local Library.

some sense of real life there was movie was dull, sad, boring, depressing. people watch movies for action and entertainment. if the need mental, psycho, emotional help/therapy then they'll watch a documentary or go see a shrink,\ ... right?

I stumbled upon this movie, not knowing what quite to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the storyline. Foremost, understand that we have a phenomenal cast of actresses and supporting cast as well. I will tell you nothing about the plot (many others have done that)... but more about the areas of note to consider:
- this story is definitely for those that like to see subtle but poignant writing/directing. This film is full of that.
-each character has their own experience and perspective, but brilliantly, in the end they correlate somehow
It's a nice little gem of a film that drama buffs will enjoy. Don't sleep on it. It'll pleasantly surprise you.

An all-star cast, I was expecting something a little different than I saw. As you would expect the actresses portrayed their characters wonderfully. I would have liked the stories to have been more connected and cohesive.

Some people should not be allowed to leave movie reviews.
This movie is FANTASTIC!!! Do people need everything spelled out for them? Does the good guy have to shoot the bad guy just so you can keep up? Can you relax and understand something that's non linear?
Just watch their faces. You can tell what's going on internally by just watching their faces. This may be a surprise for some moviegoers, that not everything meaningful is spoken or acted out. It's a very tough test for an actor to be able to convey their world, their heart, their inner selves, and whatever changes they might be experiencing in subtle facial expression. I'll refer you to the last scene of "Michael Clayton" when Clooney is in the taxi. It's a virtuoso performance, especially because the camera stares at him for about 5 minutes.
Anyway, I've seen this movie twice and I like it even more. The entire cast was fantastic. Whoever played the homeless woman was spectacular.
This was an exposition of the brutality that rains down on women every day. From the boss lady to the homeless woman (the ultimate Invisible Person: an elderly, single, impoverished woman) we watch them trying to take deep breaths through the pain, and, so woman-like, still running the world.
Brava!

I am shocked this has no English subtitles for the Deaf viewers! I pay to see movies and with all the technology you have and the wealth--- can't Amazon simply add English subtitles for the Deaf community.

This is an ensemble piece where everyone of the characters comes in contact with the other. All the women have personal stories they share.
Glenn Close plays a divorced physician looking after her aged mother and looking for love.
Calista Flockart plays the tarot card reader for Close's character, and then we see her with her very ill partner. They are discussing and musing about their first date.
Holly Hunter plays a bank manager, having an affair with a married man. She becomes pregnant and we see her story.
Kathy Baker plays Rose, a mother if a teenaged son and a children's book writer. Looking but not looking for live, she meets her next door neighbor who is striking looking and quite available.
Amy Brennerman p'ays a detective who has put her life on hold while living with her sister, Cameron Diaz, who is blind. Interesting women, both of them.
Each story is within another story. This film is seventeen years old, but can still ring true.

I get what they were trying to portray here; its hard being a woman. If you want to spend 2 hours watching a heavy and mostly uncomfortable movie about women being miserable, this is the movie for you! It's not often I feel this kind of relief when a movie FINIALLY ends.
