Thiago Alcantara urges agent to find new club as Liverpool exit nears

Thiago Alcantara might be leaving Liverpool, as the midfielder has instructed his agent to find a new club.

According to Football Insider, Thiago Alcantara has already urged his agent to find him a new club in the summer as he nears the end of his time at Liverpool. The 33-year-old midfielder has played only five minutes of football this season, and the Merseysiders are unlikely to offer him a new deal.

Thiago Alcantara searching for a new club?

The signing of Thiago was designed to bring some much-needed experience and expertise into this Liverpool midfield. The 33-year-old joined the Merseysiders in 2020 after a treble-winning season with Bayern, which proved to be his last in the Bundesliga.

He appeared like a shrewd signing for the first two seasons, but soon, injuries began catching up on the 33-year-old Liverpool star’s progress. Thiago has played a grand total of five minutes on the pitch this season, which came against Arsenal in February. He has been plagued by a series of hip and muscular problems that have left his Liverpool future in doubt.

Thiago is expected to leave Liverpool in the summer when his deal expires, and the report states that the 33-year-old star has urged his agent to find a new club. Despite his persistent injury issues, the Spaniard is not ready to hang up his boots and wants to continue playing at the highest level.

There needs to be more certainty about any Premier League club going anywhere near him following the season he’s had, although some teams from abroad might take their chances. Thiago’s intentions are unclear at this stage, as he may sit down in the summer and evaluate his options. With 98 games so far for the Merseysiders, there are chances he may never play for the Reds again this season or beyond.

Who are interested in Thiago?

Back in January, a few Turkish clubs were showing interest, while La Liga giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were also keen. A return to Spain might have its merits for Thiago, where he can play his technical style of football to good use, as he could also consider a return to Barcelona.

Flamengo and Al-Ettifaq are also admirers on the midfielder, which shows there are a wide range of options available for Thiago to consider. Those Turkish clubs might also return to the table, meaning the midfielder will have his say in determining his next move in the summer when he leaves Liverpool.
