RSK XFM Remastered

By RSK XFM Remastered

Y'alright? Ages ago... People were sayin' this is the definitive remastering & lost content discovery project for the legendary XFM radio show featuring Ricky "Play a Record" Gervais, Stephen "Man Alive" Merchant and Karl "K-Man" Pilkington, with such gems as ROCKBUSTERS and MONKEY NEWS. Ricky, Steve and Karl began their pointless, mind-numbing Saturday afternoon radio show in August 2001 on XFM, a shoddy tin pot radio station. They did 4 radio series before launching their record-breaking podcast in 2005. Listen for LOST BITS! Enjoy RSK XFM drivel like never before! Not Radio X or Global.

In this beautifully animated edition of KARL IN A FILM, Shaun James brings Karl's imagination to life. In KARL IN A FILM, Karl Pilkington inserts himself into seminal films, and this week's classic film is the critically acclaimed, Kes. Karl comedically weaves his own voice into this memorable Kes scene to great comedic effect. Using the audio amalgam created by Karl, Shaun James skillfully builds an alternate animated universe in which little Karl Pilkington stars in Kes.

In this very special animated edition of MONKEY NEWS, Michael Leighton brings a classic bit of MONKEY NEWS to life with his vivid animation. Karl Pilkington explains to Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant how the well-known phrase, "Monkey Business," came about. Karl spins a tale so preposterous that Ricky and Steve are utterly dumbfounded. Michael Leighton carefully constructs the hilarious world as imagined by the bald, round-headed buffoon, Karl Pilkington.

Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais ask their "producer," Karl Pilkington, the questions that the Sun asks someone else in their White Van Man section, where a member of the public is asked their opinions on the week’s big political and social hot potatoes. Essentially, the Sun's White Van Man provides the "average Joe" perspective on the week’s big stories. Similarly, WHITE VAN KARL provides an avenue to explore Karl's unique perspective on political issues and current events. Some of the greatest moments on the XFM show; e.g., MAN MOTH, HORSE IN THE HOUSE, etc., came out of this feature. ENJOY!

EDUCATING RICKY - Part 4

EDUCATING RICKY - Part 4

PART 4 of a compilation of Karl's pseudo-educational feature, EDUCATING RICKY, which is a play on words based on the film, Educating Rita. Karl brings in a few ridiculous topics each week and teases his co-hosts, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, with catchy headlines meant to sum up the topic, usually in the form of a stupid pun. Karl typically reads out the headlines, and lets Ricky and Steve react to them. After Karl is reprimanded for his idiocy, a topic is chosen and Karl proceeds to expound on it in a comical manner. Ricky usually cackles wildly and/or becomes enraged by the utter inanity and falsity of Karl's bogus story. At the end of each "educational" session, Ricky and Steve are exasperated by the fact that they have no idea what Karl has just tried to teach them.

CHAPTERS:

PART 4, and final installment, of a compilation of one of Karl Pilkington's most beloved features, MONKEY NEWS; and the utterly pointless spin-off feature, CHEAP AS CHIMPS, as well as a smattering of other random monkey bits.

Monkeys are near and dear to Karl's simian heart. He spent much of his time during the XFM years sitting at home, looking up spurious monkey facts on the Internet. He would then share this unreliable monkey-related drivel with his two best friends, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who, over time, became increasingly irate at Karl's evermore outlandish monkey musings.

ROCKBUSTERS - Part 6

PART 6 (of 6) & FINAL installment of Karl Pilkington's ROCKBUSTERS (a cheap knockoff of Blockbusters). Not only was this one of Karl's longest running features (along with Monkey News), but it was also voted by fans as his greatest XFM feature of all time: https://x.com/rskxfm/status/1714711967305269595?s=20. Karl Pilkington gives a cryptic clue (it's usually nonsense) and the initials of a famous band or artist (he sometimes gets the initials wrong), and listeners either call, or as the feature developed (unless they were experiencing technical difficulties), email in their answers. The winner gets an arbitrary assortment of tat, often including a pointless DVD seemingly chosen at random from the bargain bucket. Fans will recall Stephen Merchant announcing such great prizes as Ladder 49 (the mediocre John Travolta film), or Children of the Corn (Peter Horton's in it). Ricky Gervais once mused: "Imagine getting that and going 'Excellent, we can watch this now!'" PART 6 ends with Steve in a state of total astonishment after Karl's penultimate Rockbuster, Kasabian: "What?! That's one of your worst, that... That's terrible." And in response to Karl's final Rockbuster, Donna Summer, Steve is utterly stupefied: "Man alive, that was shocking." **THE END** Keane (0:00) Courtney Love (11:44) Yoko Ono (19:28) Amy Winehouse (26:38) Nick Drake & The Ramones (34:51) Kasabian & Donna Summer (38:31)

ROCKBUSTERS - Part 2

ROCKBUSTERS - Part 2

PART 2 (of 6) of Karl Pilkington's ROCKBUSTERS (a cheap knockoff of Blockbusters).

Ricky Gervais once mused: "Imagine getting that and going 'Excellent, we can watch this now!'"

PART 2 ends with Steve exclaiming: "This is the worst competition ever!" And Ricky saying "We're stopping this... That's ruined that one then. Well that's run that one into the ground..."

SONGS OF PHRASE

SONGS OF PHRASE

Compilation of ALL of Karl Pilkington's SONGS OF PHRASE feature, for which Karl combines pieces of songs to re-enact "popular" sayings from the show. Originally, Karl called the feature, CROSSWORDS, because he got words and sort of crossed 'em and that... The name changed to SONGS OF PHRASE in response to a fan's suggestion. Listeners try to guess all of the songs that the well-known phrase is composed of.
The phrases were mostly derogatory drivel to begin with, but somehow, the feature devolved over time into even more offensive gibberish. Ricky Gervais had this to say: "This is a desperate feature, innit?" To which, Stephen Merchant responded: "It really is awful." Truly one of Karl's most shambolic features.
