      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It may feature such accomplished actors as Hilary Swank and Stephen Rea, but The Reaping also boasts the apropos tagline "What hath God wrought?" It's schlocky, spiritually shallow, and scare-free.

Patty H So everywhere else on the internet this movie got high ratings, and here, just meh. Well, I'm with the high ratings group. This movie is well paced. No boring scenes, everything leads up to the finale and what a finale it was! I can usually guess the ending of a movie but this is one of the very rare exceptions that I couldn't. So if you want an interesting story line with a big twist in the end, this movie is for you. I have never been a Hillary Swank fan until today. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/23 Full Review Holly I actually really liked this film! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review Cfunk D Great movie. I loved it. Especially the ending Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review R M As a huge horror fan that KNOWS these crap movies like the ring get motions to like them because you don't have to think this movie is excellent in its theme and writing. Well made and acted. Too many schlock's who think a good horror is made for the blond beside you that suck you while watching. A good horror like the exorcist is made for fans who understand a movie should make you think. If you are dumb don't watch this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review victor o I saw this for AnnaSophia Robb, who is a talented young actress but is sidelined by the more respected and older performers. I did enjoy this story and the acting even if it was your basic horror thriller. Katherine is a former missionary having lost her faith with her husband's death, and has a change of calling in doing her part to debunk religious phenomena through science. But her brother, a devout priest ends up discovering a find that even she cannot debunk in a Louisiana town's plagues with links to the religious phenomenon but also something worse. All this is linked to a girl who appears to be at the center of this horror. It has been a while since I've seen Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank in a good movie, and I miss her terribly. While not the best movie, she is a great presence and still is a worthy performer. I do appreciate a horror film with religious undertones but this one was more about horror than faith. Other actors like Stephen Rea and David Morrissey do their part but it mostly falls flat. I still like it but it could have been done so much better. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Liam D A Very, Very stupid story This Thriller I cannot recommend but I would recommend Phelous video on the film because it's actually pretty funny Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
