Though it's not always as clever as it fancies itself, The Pursuit of Love's spot-on casting and stylish proceedings prove a delicious enough diversion.

Anna Russell New Yorker A scathing satire of the British upper classes... Dec 12, 2022 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au A heady cocktail of youth, rebellion and vitality. Aug 7, 2021 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) Emily Mortimer announced herself as a highly promising creator with her 2014 series Doll & Em, a skilful Hollywood farce about friendship, but she's gone up a level with this witty, resonant adaptation of Nancy Mitford's cherished novel. Aug 4, 2021 Full Review Alexandra MacAaron Women's Voices for Change My only issue is the dichotomy of “woman” it insists on perpetuating. You’re either a Bolter or a Sticker; a virgin or a whore. Neither Fanny nor Linda is ever really satisfied, which makes it hard for the viewer to relate completely to either. Rated: 7/10 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Milagros Amondaray La Nación (Argentina) Mortimer manages to... pay tribute to the novelist who lives in Linda's character and in that of so many women who pursued freedom. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/5 Jan 11, 2022 Full Review Margot Harrison Seven Days (VT) Like "The Queen's Gambit," Mortimer's series works as pure escapism. But it has a serious side, too. Nawal R It's an energetic, stylish and fun costume series that feels true to its time period but at the same time has a modern attitude, and is full of eccentric characters and aristocratic decadence. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought seriously about watching this series. Mortimer, Scott and James had me interested. Then I saw that schmucky chunk o' mediocrity Dominic West was in it. Hard no! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review tom m Okay. But, I am a bit weary of themes of romance obsession of the 1930-40's in the UK. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Lord Merlin was fantastic. Lily James put on a delightful performance in this charming period piece Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member One dimensional lead characters wander aimlessly through an unevenly paced story only to end flatly on a frustratingly trite note. Emily Mortimer is a complete hack, failing to capture even a moment of honest, intelligent female narrative. Dominic West is ridiculous without being amusing. The sets exude a Wes Anderson type silliness untethered to any sort of cinematic context. I'm still unable to fathom how the filmmakers managed to make the incomparably lovely Lily James appear genuinely unattractive in early scenes. Nothing the characters do or say makes a lick of sense. The final scene is so badly written I came away feeling annoyed, depressed and more than a little bit insulted. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review jennifer g The only reason to watch is Andrew Scott. Otherwise, ridiculous as a trashy romance novel but with pretensions to be more.
