Synopsis

Sirena, a 15-year-old high school student, is very much in a coming-of-age dilemma. She is an excellent swimmer and everyone, including her wealthy widowed father, Nestor, has high hopes for her in the upcoming swimming season. Unfortunately, Sirena is at a point in her life where she wants to make her own decisions without having to live up to her family's expectations. To add to this stress, her father decides to marry the social-climbing Minerva, whom Sirena and her little brother, Pepe, despise. Seeing an opportunity to express her growing rebellion, Sirena enters into a relationship with Sol Torres, a poor boy from East L.A. As Sirena crosses over into Sol's world, she meets his family and discovers the warmth and closeness that is missing from her own family since her mother died. Ultimately, Sirena reconnects with what is important to her and realizes how the enduring power of her mother's love transcends death.
