The Phantom of the Opera is a decent core around which to build all sorts of vengeful madman movies. I'm not sure if The Phantom of Hollywood really lives up to its potential, but there are a few reasons to give this TV movie a look.
The movie spends a great deal of time romanticizing the backlot of Worldwide (MGM) pictures, lovingly moving across the dilapidated old structures as clips of the studio, getting used in the past, are intercut. It's not especially well done, but it's good enough.
