I like some of the extra scenes but the one that really bothers me is the episode where Michael has the bachelor party for Bob Vance and gets Elizabeth the stripper. She's having a conversation with Pam and Pam is really condescending about Elizabeth's occupation. It made Pam seem very nasty.

I completely agree. Pam and Jim in general are much meaner in the superfan episodes. The episode where Pam has the baby, she is so mean to everyone. I was uncomfortable for most of it.

Well its probably not an unpopular opinion. People just like them because they are more of the Office.

They were taken out originally for not just time but also because they didnt work. So others said the same thing as you

It's almost as if those scenes were left out for a reason!

I'm old enough to remember watching pretty much all of the added stuff as deleted scenes in the DVD extras and thinking "yeah, that wasn't actually very good" with the exception of a few. Definitely was hitting up the bloopers wayyy more often than I was going for the deleted scenes.

It definitely didn’t make the episodes better, but it’s fun to watch when you know the series well enough to notice the added scenes, and to either enjoy the additional content, or understand why things were cut.

But agreed, this isn’t the superior form of the show, just something for the superfans.

I have a weird relationship with deleted stuff being included because I have this weird head cannon that it technically isn't a part of the story if it's cut. Overall, half the time I can see why the stuff that was cut was cut, though.

Yeah I got a similar feeling watching them, there are usually very clear reasons why they were cut. It’s also led to tons of folks here and elsewhere citing Superfan eps for things that happen or that we didn’t know about, but they didn’t actually happen, they’re deleted scenes re-inserted to make more content.

They also often make characters look horrible or are just too poor taste/not the right context or just bad jokes.

I think it makes them a lot better. Episodes have a limited run time, a lot of great jokes were cut because they couldn't fit into the 22 minutes allotted.

I do agree that some of the scenes were cut due to out of character stuff etc. But I'll take a few meh moments for lots of new good scenes.

What if they let Stanley's laugh and question play out and then cut to the interview?? See, it could just be they edited it dumbly, and not that its a bad scene

I think people have a hard time adding the new scenes into their predisposed idea of what the episodes, arcs, and characters should be doing. New information isn’t bad just because it changes the context of what you thought you understood, it just changes what you knew. Just different, and i can see how that would grate on people. Me? I love every new scene and wish every episode had the inclusions

I'd call that nostalgia. They're not always bangers but often almost a needed addition for context later.

Isn’t this kind of the point? There’s a reason why all those clips were deleted.
