Neighborhood: Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.

- angelafarranceHastings, United Kingdom1,055 contributionsBrilliant EveningArrived for Peter Kay yesterday, parked in the car park and walked across in 5 minutes, grabbed a quick bite at Nando’s, purchased through O2 priority so had a relaxing drink in the priority bar, arrived at our seat at 7. The only small annoyance is the amount of people that choose to get to their seat at 8!!! Not going to happen, delayed by 15 minutes. When show had finished we were out and in our car within 20 minutes and on the road home, back in just over an hour, great evening and Peter Kay was immense….loved it!Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 23, 2023
- Frank D7 contributionsGood venueThe venue is comfortable and it doesn't feel as big as I thought it might for 20,000 people. The queues seem a bit manic unfortunately. 02 priority access is definitely worth it. A venue I would visit again.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 21, 2023
- Damien15London, United Kingdom24 contributionsMicky - great show but overpricedFirst off Micky was fantastic, 3rd tour I’ve seen him and he improves with every show! We paid a bit extra and treated ourselves to Club Lounge seats. We were sat in Row B block 111. Seats were very comfortable and the view was good. Tickets included a food & drinks voucher which entitled you to either 2 drinks each or a drink + food. Menu fairly limited to a burger or pizza. The real let down is the drinks pricing at the O2, and the fact you have to drink them out of a paper cup, even in the Lounges that are not cheap! How on earth do they warrant charging £29 for a JD & coke and a Bacardi & coke, completely take the Micky (excuse the punt)!Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 26, 2023
- Jenny S24 contributionsMicky FlanaganWent to see Micky Flanagan who was brilliant. Staff were great - We had a bit of an issue with our tickets (my fault!) but the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Easy venue to get to on the Tube. The only downside for me was the prices- 2 burgers and drinks in five guys ÂŁ33 just ridiculous. Also the queue to get the tube back when everyone left the O2 was horrendous.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 28, 2023

The signer (Paula Cox) was AMAZING! We were treated like VIPs - escorted to our great seats; taken care of like you would not believe! Thank you so much to the Arena Guest Service Team - you were FABULOUS!Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 3, 2023

- SarnyBexleyheath, United Kingdom513 contributionsIndigo LoungeSaw Jimmy Carr here with my adult son. The venue is really good for getting people in and out effectively. We were literally in the last row having got these tickets late but you can still see the stage well. Didn't bother trying to get drinks at the bar - that was too mad with people trying to get drinks, no ordering or queue system. Plenty of toilet inside. Would go to this venue again.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 9, 2023
- al151Sheffield, United Kingdom14 contributionsLike the o2 - don’t bother with the Amex lounge!!Sat row L in the block 412 and had really good front on seats so was happy with that & of course the show. Anyone wanting to use the Amex lounge I really would not bother. I asked 3 members of staff at the o2 lounge where to go to get into the amex lounge and they kept telling me I didn’t have the right ticket to use the lounge ( doesn’t matter of the ticket - if you have a American Express card or not) eventually found where to go and the que took 40 minutes. It was painfully slow, with one person only on the desk whilst the lady next to her sat on her iPhone. Finally got through to the lounge and such a disappointment, so busy. No where to sit. Drinks so expensive- I really don’t see the point in it. Had a lovely pre meal at Gaucho - would definitely recommend that. .Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2023

- Jayne0007Bristol, United Kingdom13 contributionsDisappointedWent to O2 to see Peter Kay. Yes I agree with other ms O2 is a rip off and I won’t be keen to book tickets to see anything else there because of that. We don’t mind paying a bit over and above, you expect that when you go to these venues but £4 for one can of Pepsi and £8.50 for one pint is not fair. We were put off by the £19 burgers that looked like they had been sat on the side for quite a while! I agree with others Peter Kay was not as funny as he used to be, not as I remember him at all (sorry Peter I love you but …. ) jokes were too old and at times very childish. I also didn’t think the tickets were worth the £75 we paid.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 31, 2023

We went to the o2 to see the 1975 for the second time in February 2020. Getting to the o2 by tube was easy and even entering the standing area was smooth. The gig itself was incredible and the sound, visuals and atmosphere were stunning. Leaving the o2 needs a little more planning and if you have the time it's worth sticking around to for a drink or a bite to eat at one of the many bars and restaurants on site until the crowds have died down. The o2 arena area however is as you may expect - Overpriced food and drinks (single spirt ÂŁ9, pint ÂŁ6 and CARD ONLY throughout), long queues to get the food and drinks and the queues for the toilets was outrageous). However nothing is quite as bad as the staff - I understand there's a lot of people to deal and they're likely to have to take some flack from some riff raff but that doesn't excuse the grunts and groans they use for communication. They're much better and having a chat with each other though. The security staff also appear to take their role as if they are entitled to speak and handle members of the public like they're wild animals. Unfortunately people want to see the performers they love and the o2 know this so this is never going to change so going there with you expectations low and enjoying what you are there to see is the best bet!

This is not how gigs should be. This place, if you are being kind is trying to appeal to everyone, in reality it's trying to squeeze every last penny out of you, and then some. The epitome of corporate greed, planned to make not entertain or give value for money, can't be bothered to quote prices, lats just say even by venues and as London, pay more, get less, then the only half decent beer runs out at 8pm, what a gig of 20,000, you did think anyone was coming. All the same brands owned by the same soulless companies who care so little about customers. Dangerous seating, allowing people to smoke and vape, dispite the announcements, attendent let it happen, time is too short to rant further, just some supporting such consumerism.
That said Slipknot were great under these artificial conditions.

Attended at the O2 arena on 12/02/2020 and booked in for the walk over the roof experience.
Staff were helpful when booking at the site, the weather was clear with a bit of a gusty wind, so we used the overalls, the trainers and gloves provided which gave good protection from the wind chill.
The female guide that took the tour over the roof and the pre-walk safety briefing was very friendly and helpful throughout the visit.
The start and end of the walk is a 30 degree climb so stretches the calf muscles a bit. On a clear day the views from the viewing area at the top are very good.
The tour lasts around 90 minutes and well worth doing .

What an amazing experience, we did the Sunset climb 20:00 and were not disappointed.
Max was looking after us and did a great job, very informative lots of knowledge of surrounding areas.
We felt very safe, all safety checks were carried out, very simple to follow.
Social distancing was adhered to only nine of us on the climb.
The young lady on the reception desk was lovely.
Only negative, we had champagne at the top, felt it was overpriced at over ÂŁ15 for two glasses of 100ml.

The area houses shops such as Tesco as well as the O2 itself. Its tube location of North Greenwich makes it very accessible but there are also car parking facilities for those driving to the location. Whilst there are hotels at Canary Wharf and the surrounding areas, hotels can be expensive with the less expensive found around City Airport. The chairlift is a must-see experience for anyone travelling to London to visit and can be accessed from the O2 or from Victoria Docks/Silvertown to O2 as it provides a wondrous view of the Thames, the docklands and the surrounding hills as well as Canary Wharf. The O2 has become a national treasure alongside a great venue for a number of shows and performances which are easily accessible through covered walk ways in the event of inclement weather.

I got a notification, that for sixteen days in august the 02, were giving you a chance to visit the areas, that only the A list celebrities tread.
So I took one of my relations, and we arrived by bus to the 02, when I booked online,I had a bit of an issue, as I was trying to book the backstage tour, I also booked for Up at the 02, which is the climb over the top of the entertainment venue.
So when we finally got to the check in desk, as I checked in, Barry one of the senior staff behind the backstage tour organisers, confirmed us he also said that I was scheduled on the climb after our backstage tour, he radioed through to the base camp Lucia and asked if there was a cancellation that they may be a possibility that we could participate in the climb or get a refund.
So on to the backstage tour :-
We started by going through a safety briefing, before standing in a large walled corridor, which is the walk of fame the celebrities enter by a take the lift to there dressing rooms.
We then went in the American Express lounge, which is split in to three areas, a bar, cocktail bar and restaurant, the lounge is used for the after party for the NTA awards ( National Television Awards ), we then walked into the arena, and sat in which are the best seats in the house see picture below.
After that we walked on the floor of the arena with the circular bowl horseshoed in front of us, photo opportunity here !!!
We walked through the loading bay, and then along the heartbeat corridor as from the ATP Tennis Finals, where all the lockers rooms are, you enter various rooms for VIP as you pass picture upon picture of famous events that the 02 has staged since it opened.
We then climbed up the escalator, to the various boxes and suites that multi business hire before entering the 02 box where the tour finished, you could have brought souvenirs or refreshments we declined and made our way back down the escalator back to where we started the tour,
So in summary, it was lovely to see the bits of the 02, that the customer doesn’t see the nuts and bolts, so get in quick as you only got until the end of august for the backstage tour so get in touch ASAP.

I parked in carpark 1 and although I got parked fine the cost of parking was extortionate. How do they justify ÂŁ36? That cost ÂŁ8 more than the event itself. Shocking. Those prices probably put a bit of a dampner on people's enjoyments of the show with that on there mind.

We went to a concert which was ok but you cannot take any food or drink into the arena and once inside they rip you off. ÂŁ3.50 for a bottle of water that costs 60p in the supermarket. I expect to pay more but not that much!

Terrible site access information for Young Voices event. It would have been really helpful to know in advance that you cannot take rucksacks into the arena. Neither were we told in advance, told by security team directing me to take rucksacks through the security screening, neither were there any signs around the venue. Only after a lengthy queue was this disclosed. A long run to where rucksackshad to be stored, out side the 02 (coming after work makes it difficult not to have one) and ÂŁ20 later...
Don't use the AXS app to share your tickets with family waiting back where you left them, hoping at least they can get in, because if this transaction takes place whilst at the 02 it doesn't work resulting in the shared tickets being lost in some virtual atmosphere causing further stress because now you don't have proof of all family tickets. Thankful after a long debate someone eventually relented.
Final tip, if you are in a suite, head for entrance A and not entrance E as advised because you are absolutely no where near where you need to be, which makes walking with a mobile impaired disabled relative another stress. All in all, after arriving at 5.45 at the 02 we sat at our seats at 8pm missing the first hour of what should have been a lovely evening out for a proud family.
02? Young Voices event organisers in their communication to schools? not sure but the finer details ruined this night out.

So, you've booked your tickets for your event at the O2. No problem. You've been very organised, and booked your parking space in Car Park 1 because you're going to 'an event' and that's the car park the website told you to book (even though the other car parks are half the price). So far, so good.
The great day arrives, and you present yourself at Car Park 1, only to be told by a guy in a high-vis jacket that you need to park in Car Park 4 because Car Park 1 is full. Say what? But I've paid to park in Car Park 1, you say several times in a slightly hysterical manner as if he couldn't hear you the first time. You have no choice, but to get into a 20 minute traffic jam en route to Car Park 4, taking this opportunity to have a brief, but heart-felt row with your husband because you were on time, but now you're not.
Eventually, you manage to park in Car Park 4, and arrive at your event half an hour late.
Seriously.
On a separate note, the O2 itself was fabulous. Next time, we're taking the tube.

The tubes are heaving after any gig, and the last train is usually around 11:30 to gatwich, I'd say no unless you are going to leave the gig early or you have an early gig. Plus you have check-in etc....

Hi! I'm going to an event which starts at 8pm (doors open at 6:30pm). What time would you recommend arriving for a meal at one of the restaurants? I don't think it's possible to pre-book a table anywhere.
Would you recommend eating in the o2 or outside it?

We booked Gaucho before our event would definitely recommend trying to book or go earlier as it was packed for us and ques in some restaurants.
Is block 106 row L good seating for a rock concert?
a_travel_monkey
London, UK796 contributions
These seats are at the back of the first level and you have a head on view of the stage. The website (A View From My Seat) has photos of views from the block, just search for the O2 and you can then filter images for that block.
Hey, the website says no bags larger than a4. I cant find any bags in the style i want that arent at least a cm over in length, will they still let it in? Say a 16x25x7cm bag. Would they allow that or not?

Hi I’m seeing a concert. I’m floor seating with entrance H I wasn’t sure if I have to climb any steps or go up really high in order to access my seat?
a_travel_monkey

If you are on the floor, you still have to go up the escalators to level 1 when you enter via entrance H and you then have to walk down from stairs onto the floor. At the end of the concert you can exit via an exit on the floor.
