It was a great show for me. Nanny Diaries kept me engaged throughout the whole movie. It's a bit similar to "The Devils Prada." Scarlett Johannson playing as Annie the Nanny did not expect to be a babysitter or even be a "mother" round the clock for the child. It was a bit of a comedy watching how everything unfolds with a bit of twist here and there. You'll have to see for yourself.

I was AuPair (foreign nanny) for over a year and this movie was like 90% of my life 10 year ago... I also had a boy and he was 7 y old...and we had a peanut butter from the jar (only no double dipping lol)
I also was fired because my "host mom" became jealous of kid's love towards me...He started to call me my mommy and the best friend. I tried to explain him the difference, BUT he said..mommy is who takes care of you and loves you, and you the only person who is....
I guess nothing else to add....Nanny cam and I was fired...
So many similarities in a movie...omg...
Anyway, the best part is I met my hubby. He also lived almost "next door"..and "my host mom" did not like our relationship, saying he is out of my class....
Now I am happily married for almost 8 years and became a doctor. Still live in NY next door to my EX-"host mom" -))))

As the mother of a 2 year old, this movie got to me. I got emotional during a few parts and I don't get emotional often from movies. My child was asleep as I watched this and I paused it halfway through to go see her sleep and kiss her forehead. It reminded me of how lucky I am to have her and how sometimes parents let their own problems interfere with giving the amount of attention and love their children deserve. At the end, I was crying and making plans to share more time with my child tomorrow than I did today.

Extremely realistic and a laugh a minute. The story is not uncommon for college grads who become nannies for the extra perks of wealthy families. It also shows the other sides of being a nanny while still remaining light, fun and a pleasure to watch. It briefly shows hows other nannies can become trapped as lowly lowly paid and invisible servants. The story shows how being a nanny can be a life expanding experience, a trap, a constant battle with children and/or parents and a love story. I recommend this to anyone who is in the mood for a light story that is somewhat realistic, humorous, and ridiculous even though possible situations. Add to the list that it is a different kind of love story and you have it all. It is a bit predictable in the end though it is an end worth waiting for leaving you feeling fulfilled.

So, I don't really know why it's listed as a comedy because there was nothing funny. Not once was there anything worth laughing at. Chris Evans was a surprise when he showed up although I did know that he had supposedly been in a movie with Scarlett Johansson before the marvel characters. I was surprised he wasn't listed as one of the main characters.
Anyway if someone needs to watch a movie that shows how pitiful it really is for people to live a lavish lifestyle but leave their child to be raised by strangers, then I guess there is a reason for this movie.
There is a positive ending but it was a really long drawn out path to get to the end. But since there wasn't too much cursing, I did watch til the end.
