I loved this movie so much. Andrea Bocelli Is the greatest singer in the world, and it was fascinating to watch his life story unfold in this movie! The music is amazing, too! Now, I wish they would do another movie of his career (after it took off!) so I could watch more of his life story!!

Beautiful story with pleasing actors and the soundtrack of Andrea Bocelli. Add in the courage of a young man facing blindness amidst the glorious Tuscan landscape and you have a two hour movie escape.

If you're watching in a dubbed version in another language, for the first time in the history of cinema it is probably an advantage. That way you are avoiding the language as spoken by the actors and filmed by the Director, god only knows what possessed him to think that this was a good idea. The end result is a film where nobody is speaking in their native tongue and boy does it show, and more importantly sound! I reached for the remote control to try to put on the hard-of-hearing subtitles as so much of the dialogue was escaping me. I have no idea if any of the actors were any good as they didn't seem to understand the dialogue they were speaking, with wrong intonation much more predominant than right or pleasant intonation on the ear. Presumably the thinking was, with an internationally renowned artist as the subject of the biopic, it would make sense to have all of the cast speaking the international language of English, except that all of the cast are non-native English speakers and representing a supposed Italian milieu, with a Spanish singing-teacher in the shape of usually bankable asset Antonio Banderas - usually a man who can be relied upon to mangle spoken English, even if he can get around it in a Hollywood blockbuster playing an American. It would be fine to suspend your disbelief with an Italian family speaking English, if only you could understand the Italian and Spanish actors playing that family. And it was just the same at school, hospital, and university as the protagonist goes out into the world... the only respite coming when he ends up singing in a bar and finally, FINALLY! we get to hear Italian being sung as is de rigueur in the land of opera and our ears are given a rest!
