Willie Nelson and the Muppets

Willie Nelson (b. 1933) is a country music singer who has been recording studio albums since the early 1960s. He was a member of the country supergroup The Highwaymen in the late 1980s, with Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

In 2001, Nelson titled his 55th album after the first track, a cover of "Rainbow Connection". That same year, he was honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame where he posed for photos with Judy Collins, "Rainbow Connection" composer Paul Williams, and award presenter Kermit the Frog.

Nelson again performed "Rainbow Connection" with Paul Williams for the 2005 DVD/CD release I'm Going Back There Someday, which also featured Gonzo.

In 2016, Nelson guest starred on The Muppets episode "Generally Inhospitable," performing "On the Road Again" (which he wrote) with The Electric Mayhem. The song has been covered by the Muppets on other occasions.

On March 14, 2024, Kermit reunited with Nelson for a duet of "Rainbow Connection" at Luck Reunion, an annual music festival held on Nelson's Luck Ranch in Texas.
