This book is a great read! It was difficult to set down. I have seen the movie, too. Although the majority of the book is the same as the movie, as with most great books, the book is better. The movie had great actors and gorgeous scenery. The book had depth in characterization of the wilderness, as well as the central three characters: a female writer, a male surgeon, and the surgeon's wife. The novel also is a more realistic version than the movie's interpretation. LOVED the BOOK!

Absolutely loved this book!

Wow! Martin is an incredible author. I read this book after watching the movie (starring Kate Winslet and Idris Alba) thinking that the book would be very similar to the movie. I should know better, really, but everyone is naïve now and then! The Mountain Between Us – book version – is perhaps even more intense than the movie. The characters spring to life and are well-developed. In fact, the plot has two parallel conflicts: one is the conflict the characters experience with the natural world, while the other conflict is entirely internal. Both have issues they are running from, especially our hero. He has a mysterious past that is only revealed about 2/3 of the way through the book. There is a subtle Christian element to the book, but it is very much in the background. This book is a powerful testament to love, to the value of life, and to the perseverance we must demonstrate in order to overcome the impossible.

I felt cheated. I was lured into reading an interesting book with awkward situations, and ended up reading a romance novel. Not for me.

The Mountain Between Us is an interesting blend of survival story/clean romance. It’s a bit schmaltzy, but the quick pace and well-developed characters make it an engaging read.

I saw the movie first then read the book.
As usual the two are quite different.
The book was well written, a little slow at first then picks up towards the middle.

I watched the movie and that prompted me to read the book. The book is so much better than the movie. The descriptions of the wilderness where the plane crashed were wonderful. The events that took place were completely believable. I became very fond of the characters in the book and so sad near the end. If you read the book you will know why. This is the first book by Charles Martin that I have read and I have requested another.

Really a good book. Looking forward to seeing the movie, but I bet the book's gonna be better! I couldn't put it down and read it over a rainy weekend.

Recently saw the movie and decided to read the book. The movie is "based upon" the book but so much of it is different. They took the general story and changed most of it! Book was amazing and I'll be looking into others by this author now.
