Darryl B These critics underscoring this film just don't appreciate the nuances of rural Ireland. We really do ring up Joe Duffy to complain about everything. Doing the right thing, even if breaking the law, is a very Irish trait. Which could have been hammy if we were subjected to silly ‘scenarios', but the writer/director kept it paced and lighthearted. It reminds me of the Irish films we use to get in the 1980's/90's. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Jeremy-James H Great feel good movie for families with challenging situations ! Endearing tale Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Steve H Predictable at times but an enjoyable movie with some interesting ideas Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Paul G Tour de force Comedic yet empathetic Outstanding scriptwriting and direction, beautifully filmed scenery and an exceptional performance from the entire cast Many much weaker productions & performances have won Oscars... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review charming m A grower, as it's set-up moves from contrived introductions to the protagonists to farcical behavioural motives. Once the unlikely troupe hit the road and their antagonists join the chase, the film clicks into gear. Ireland is both a backdrop and a character in its own right, forgive the pun! The country's charm contributing to both the sense of fun and the jeopardy along the way. The twists and turns are as unexpected as the bends in the road ahead our unlikely troupe of heroes think they clearly see. The performances are as solid in the newcomers as they are in seasoned names like Brian Cox and Colm Meaney. If this Irish gem doesn't charm then there's something not right about you... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/22 Full Review Audience Member I gave this 4 1/2 because I never give 5. If you give 5, what about the one that's even better? There's no 6. Anyway, this one is a delight, a lovely little independent film. Funny in an off-beat way with engaging characters. Colm Meaney as a frustrated police inspector. Brian Cox (the Scottish actor) as an Irish priest. A wonderful sense of place (Ireland) and the quirky Irish nature. I won't say much other than it involves the disposition of three dead folks: one mum, two brothers (unrelated to the mum). Scenes with a deceased brother reminded me of Peter Sellers and "I Love You Alice B Toklas" (I'm probably the only person in the world thinking of/recalling that movie right now. Anyway, a nice antidote to formulaic, violent movies. Check it out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Donald Clarke Irish Times A reasonably likeable salute to a Magic Ireland we don't see much anymore. Rated: 3/5 Dec 11, 2019 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian Gently heartwarming, mildly amusing, only vaguely related to real life. Rated: 3/5 Dec 5, 2019 Full Review Ian Thomas Malone ianthomasmalone.com Crehan's script has a keen understanding of the innate human desire to heal. Apr 20, 2021 Full Review Allen Adams The Maine Edge [A] small film that never feels small. There's an expressive spirit that permeates the whole thing, charming us with the predictable and unpredictable alike...a film about love and loss and the ties that bind us together, whether we want them to or not. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Kyle Bain Film Threat The honest and useful lessons that The Last Right teaches, with the help of the talented cast, should be taken with audiences wherever they go. Rated: 8.5/10 Apr 11, 2021 Full Review Fiona Underhill JumpCut Online Crehan does not take any easy routes with topics such as autism, teen pregnancy and family relationships - the characters are layered and flawed and seem like real human beings. It's funny, romantic and very well-written and performed - a little gem. Rated: 4/5 Apr 8, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
