Annoyingly, the digital version leaves off some tracks, including my favorites. The CD has them, though, so worth getting it.

The music from The Ladykillers is fantastic gospel with rap and other elements and the correct music is on this CD-R, but the packaging lists credits for a Michael Martin Murphey album. Others have complained here but Amazon has not fixed it. This is what happens when life is run by algorithms. The correct credits are:
"Come, Let Us Go Back to God" (The Soul Stirrers) – 2:50
"Trouble of This World (Coming Home)" (Nappy Roots) – 3:48 (Featuring chorus by Rose Stone, Freddie Stone and Lisa Stone)
"Let Your Light Shine on Me" (The Venice Four with Rose Stone and the Abbot Kinney Lighthouse Choir) – 6:43
"Another Day, Another Dollar" (Nappy Roots) – 3:48
"Jesus I'll Never Forget" (The Soul Stirrers) – 2:36
"Trouble in, Trouble Out" (Nappy Roots) – 4:04
"Trouble of This World" (Bill Landford & The Landfordaires) – 2:45 (Not featured in film)
"Come, Let Us Go Back to God" (Donnie McClurkin) – 4:33
"Weeping Mary" (Rosewell Sacred Harp Quartet) – 2:41
"Sinners" (Little Brother) – 4:25
"Troubled, Lord I'm Troubled" (Bill Landford & The Landfordaires) – 2:58
"You Can't Hurry God" (Donnie McClurkin) – 2:26
"Any Day Now" (The Soul Stirrers) – 2:28
"Trouble of This World" (Rose Stone and the Venice Four and the Abbot Kinney Lighthouse Choir) – 2:55
"A Christian's Plea" (Swan Silvertones) – 2:23
"Let Your Light Shine on Me" (Blind Willie Johnson) – 3:07
"Let the Light from the Lighthouse Shine on Me" (Rose Stone and the Venice Four and the Abbot Kinney Lighthouse Choir) – 1:42
"Yes" (The Abbot Kinney Lighthouse Choir featuring Kristle Murden) – 5:29
Additional music
"Minuet" (3rd movement) from "String Quintet in E, Op. 13 No. 5", composed by Luigi Boccherini; which the gang pretends to play, echoing the original 1955 film.

Love the movie and love the music so I decided to order this CD. I was terribly confused, however, when I inserted the CD and a list of 18 tracks appeared when the liner notes only have 10 and none of the titles matched. It took a little research, but the song titles printed are for an album by Michael Martin Murphy called Blue Sky - Night Thunder!!! The songs on the CD are correct, as are the graphics and the title of the CD, just the songs are from a different album. Very odd, but the music is great!!!

It's obvious from the spiteful review by t4t from NYC that he/she didn't see or watch the movie. The contention that the music on the CD wasn't in the movie is simply wrong. There WERE three songs on the CD that weren't in the movie, but the rest of the tunes were there. Granted, the soundtrack may not have incorporated the entire song, but that's the case on virtually all soundtrack albums. T-Bone Burnett's selection of great gospel songs that illuminate the action on the screen is as flawless as his choices for "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".
This is an excellent soundtrack album and those who enjoyed the music in the movie will enjoy the expanded versions included here.

I first rented this DVD from Netflix and they sent me the wrong one, the older version, by accident. And a happy accident it was since I had never seen that wonderful movie and that lovely performance by Alec Guinness. Eventually I got around to seeing the Coen brothers' version and while it is almost as good, it is the soundtrack that makes it great. I've always liked gospel music but I haven't bought any before because the overly "produced" sound that is popular today is not to my taste. However, this collection is far more varied and interesting. My favorite tracks are the older ones, but I love hearing them ALL. And how nice that most of them are variations of just two traditional songs; Trouble of this world and Let your light shine on me. We get to know and love those songs very well. Great for singing along!

I somehow missed this movie when it first came out. I recently watched it and was totally suprised by the soundtrack. The movie is pretty good but the sound track is FANTASTIC! I don't usually buy sound tracks but I made an exception for this one. This Audio CD may be out of current print but you can find them on Amazon. Got a deal on mine. Some of the music is hard to find so buy the sound track, you can listen to samples on Amazon.com.

If you liked the movie and could not get these old and new songs out of your head you have got to get this cd for your library. I am well pleased with this purchase. I did not know that I liked gospel music until I saw "The Lady Killers". I find myself watching the movie again and again and now that I have the cd I will spend many frequent hours listening. Great sound track compilation.
