Synopsis

Engineer Tom O'Day warns John Hamilton, a logging-camp owner, that the dam above the town of Johnstown is being weakened by the impounding of water for floating logs. Hamilton refuses, however, to heed the warning. Tom, who is in love with Gloria, Hamilton's daughter, plans to marry her while Hamilton is absent in Pittsburgh. When the dam bursts, the town is destroyed and countless lives are lost. Anna Burger, a workman's daughter, rides through the valley to warn the people; and although she is drowned, Tom and Gloria escape from the flooded church.
