Jimmy Kimmel is happy to quit keeping up with Caitlyn Jenner’s political campaign. During the Sept. 15 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late night host laughed off the former Olympian’s major defeat against California Governor Gavin Newsom in the state’s recent recall election.

“Yesterday, Gavin Newsom didn’t win. He didn’t get fired. Not even close,” Kimmel began. “He trounced the clown car full of candidates who were running against him. The cost to our state was about 300 million dollars, which I think is the third-most expensive dinner at French Laundry ever.”

Even the top Republican vote getter, radio host Larry Elder, ultimately received less than 20% of the total vote.

“[Elder] accepted the results of the election. I forgot what it was like to see a Republican do that,” Kimmel added. “It’s like every once in a while you see a chicken fly and you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, they’re birds.”

Then the late night host turned his attention toward Jenner, who he’s previously criticized for her comment that a wealthy acquaintance would rather move out of California than deal with the state’s homelessness problem, and for her interest in golfing over actively campaigning or voting in the 2020 presidential election. Suffice it to say, he wasn’t too upset when she finished 13th in the recall election.

“Most of the candidates made a final push yesterday — including America’s sweetheart Caitlyn Jenner — who seemed to be unaware that she had a better chance of winning another Olympic gold medal than the Governorship,” Kimmel said.

“If this was Dancing with the Stars, she’d have been gone the first week. That’s how bad it was,” he continued. “So I guess it’s back to waving down Teslas in the parking lot at the E! Network, begging for another shot.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c. Scroll up to watch a clip from last night’s episode.
