Scott Marks San Diego Reader It didn't take a genius to see that television was finally poised to win the war against movies. I just didn't expect my teacher to be leading the charge against theatrical exhibition. Rated: 3/5 Jan 29, 2020 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au The Irishman is a much more deliberate and weighty gangster film - by comparison, Goodfellas is a riot. But it's a vibe that works in its gravitas. Rated: 4/5 Dec 23, 2019 Full Review Namrata Joshi The Hindu The affecting, ruminative finale and the melancholic last scene leaves a metaphorical door ajar in our hearts, a deep hollow that's hard to fill... Dec 12, 2019 Full Review Aaron Charles InSession Film This is not a blatant retread of films like Taxi Driver and The Gangs of New York. The film has shots or sequences that mirror those films, but it brings something new to the table from a thematic or technical standpoint. May 10, 2024 Full Review KT Mahe For Your Reference Podcast The Irishman has the same Scorsese beats we have come to love but moves to a noticeably staggered rhythm in it's device of storytelling, laboured performances and reluctance to commit to the brutal energy of Goodfellas. Rated: 3/5 Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Oti For Your Reference Podcast The Irishman tests patience with its runtime and less effective storytelling on a second watch. CGI de-aging distracts, yet Scorsese's touch shines in cinematography. Rated: 3/5 Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

DONALD H Great return to form from Scoresese Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/20 Full Review Audience Member Just before the Oscars I got the opportunity to watch this 10 times nominee on the big screen. At 3:29 hours, it is loooong! Not a real problem, though, since it was shot for Netflix with only limited theatrical release, so very few people had to sit through it in a theater. Most of the acting is great, as are the visual effects of aging / younging (?) the numerous well known actors over the story that spanned several decades. The story is the film's biggest flaw, though: there was no build-up, no climax, just year after year after year, dying down in the end. Best picture? Not even remotely, with Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Little Women in the mix. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Wendy B Good movie, interesting story, but way too long Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/20 Full Review JDSC The movie was good, as was the acting. However, the same story could have been told in half the time. It was way too long. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/20 Full Review Michael M Classic Scorsese! Di Niro and Pacino command the movie like they always have throughout their career. I just wish it wasn't such a long movie. After 3 hours I was wearing down. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/20 Full Review lhdjrd L Cant believe deNiro was not nominated! So good as was Joe Pesci.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
