Robin L A great reinvention of the original story. terrific casting, great script and sense of place and time. I can see it would be too subtle and complex for those raised on CGI action movies but it is worth the effort to watch and appreciate the twists and turns of the story. I hope the same production team makes another series. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review John S I should have looked at the audience reviews (which are usually far more accurate than the critics). Sadly, I've watched four episodes, and it's just still plain dull. I can't think of a worse casting choice than Joe Cole for the lead in this. Doesn't suit the role at all…although many would probably argue he doesn't suit many roles. The pace is quite slow yet still feels like your grip on the story is very shallow. The worst of both worlds. I end my review with a reminder to myself: always ignore critic reviews and always take note of audience reviews that are under 65. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Gareth v A show that gets more ham-fisted and cornier the further it goes on. A misguided attempt at a political thriller that seems more interested in style (and not that great either) and it's constant use of tilted camera shots. Ordinary at best. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review darkdukeuk One of the best Tv shows of recent years on a mainstream channel. I didn't think it could top the Michael Cane film version but it excelled it. Very stylish look and perfect cast. A must see programe Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review nicolas b As a Harry Palmer fan, this series has everything I wanted, and then more. I hope they keep doing them in the future! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review MisterBethany Not incompetent, not wholly stupid - the Palmer character was hopeless, and the persistent attempts to reference the 1960s were accurate only by accident (I was there, I know). If there's another series can Palmer be killed off in the first fifteen minutes and the lead pass to Jean courteney/Lucy Boynton, a much more convincing and interesting character. All said and done there was no point in trying to match let alone surpass the 1965 film, which is an absolute classic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/26/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Nina Metz Chicago Tribune It’s an intricately plotted series that doesn’t glamorize spy work so much as make clear just how awful it can be. Rated: 3.5/4 May 26, 2022 Full Review Deborah Ross The Mail on Sunday (UK) This is fun. The script sizzles, the story is terrific in its silly way, and it is stunning visually. Rated: 5/5 Mar 14, 2022 Full Review Nick Hilton Independent (UK) It is satisfying to see spying represented in such cartoonish colours, as well as a rose-tinted retrospection on the red scare. Rated: 4/5 Mar 7, 2022 Full Review Glenn Garvin Reason Online The excellence of the cast lends weight to this series, which, even if it lacks the satiric edge of the original novel, is a well-executed addition to the spy genre. May 20, 2022 Full Review Remus Noronha Collider While there are references and homages to the 1965 movie, the series does not attempt to be a recreation of the film and that's the main reason why it's so enjoyable. Rated: A May 18, 2022 Full Review Andrew Dex Starburst The five-episode mini-series is a mystery drama delight. File under: "Recommended Viewing."
