Allie F The story of Alan Turing and what others did at Bletchley Park is one that the world should know about. Of course, for cinematic purposes, the narrative heavily leans on a specific storyline that does take artistic license on the actual events that took place historically. The truth is that there were many heroes in the war, and there are still other untold stories of efforts just as valiant. That said, Cumberbatch and Knightly did a great job in conveying some of the complex feelings and emotions that arose from many difficult situations. Despite the departure from some historical details and facts, it's a well-made film. One I've watched multiple times since. It's heartbreaking what Turing had to undergo after what he helped do, and definitely a tear jerker for that reason. Great movie. Well worth a watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Tony S Titled after a scholarly paper written by the main character, The Imitation Game is a World War II story about the breaking of the German codes. And it's very good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Peterson H Captivating plot and great acting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Michael A Even Turing (Cumberbatch) couldn't decode the complexity of existing in an age that opposed him. Nonetheless, he rose above for the sake of mankind and defeated an evil empire. In the future, his own country, would come to declare him free of evils done towards him so that mankind might, in the end, cherish the code behind the machine. Jason Bailey Flavorwire Cumberbatch helps elevate what could've been a rote boilerplate biopic into a film with the spark of a live wire. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 19, 2015 Full Review David Stratton The Australian What could have been a very dry and earnest film emerges, under the intelligent direction of Norwegian Morten Tyldum working from a screenplay by Graham Moore, as a gripping and still rather extraordinary story. Rated: 4/5 Jan 5, 2015 Full Review Benjamín Harguindey EscribiendoCine The movie goes beyond requiem thanks to Cumberbatch's performance, the supporting actors and the surprising intensity of a spy thriller set mainly in two rooms and a garage.
