Man, 38, shot dead as he sits in his car on Brooklyn street - New York Daily News
A Brooklyn man desperately tried to escape a gun-wielding attacker who shot and fatally wounded him as he sat in his car Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Ricardo Pena, 38, was sitting in a gold Kia sedan on Bushwick Ave. near Powers St. in Williamsburg just before 2:40 p.m. when the gunman shot him in the face, police sources said.
The victim got out of the car, and the shooter fired again, sources said. As blood poured from his face and neck, spraying the side of a nearby white car, the victim collapsed outside a nearby laundromat.
Medics took him to an area hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.
“There were two shots. One, and then another 10 seconds later. He was rolling around on the ground in front of that white car. His blood is on it,” said one witness who asked not to be identified.
“He was my brother. He was always a good big brother. He wanted me to learn from his mistakes," said Chris Pena, 25, referring to his sibling’s past run-ins with the law. "He was kind and had a big heart. We don’t know who would do this to him.”
Friends at the scene described Pena as a glazier — a worker who installs windows and glass doors.
“That’s Ricardo’s car," said one friend, referring to the Kia. "I was hoping something else happened. He’s a good working guy with a granddaughter on the way. I can’t believe it because he was obviously targeted.”
Cops were looking for surveillance footage Tuesday, and have not yet made an arrest.
