Based on: The Good Lord Bird by James McBride
Review: "The Good Lord Bird" is a phenomenal show that expertly combines humor, intrigue, and heartbreak. Through its masterful approach to a tough historical topic, the series manages to entertain and inform, leaving viewers craving for more while also delivering a poignant narrative that reflects on our nation's tragic past. The stellar performances, especially from Ethan Hawke and Joshua Caleb Johnson, elevate the storytelling to a level of genuine artistry, making it a must-watch for anyone seeking authentic acting and a deep dive into pre-Civil War history.
That trailer deserved an Oscar.
Love John Brown.
He was a righteous man at the right time, showing others that only through actions and force could slavery be defeated. But he also was nuts, like a squirrel in mating season.
For him this verse was not a nice story it was manual.
I absolutely loved the book and keep meaning to watch the mini-series.
This was a good watch. Loved seeing the totally mad unhinged performance by Ethan Hawke
He's also showrunner, so nobody could stop him 😊
It's a good movie. Currently teaching John Brown and wish I could show this.
I watched this series after I visited Harper’s Ferry last summer!! I really enjoyed it and thought the performances were amazing.
Is this good? I started the first episode and even in that little bit, enjoyed the performances, but never felt compelled to return to it
It`s good but you need specific mood for it :)
I’ll wait for it to strike then, tyyy☺️
