Mr. Hollywood I dont mind movies where you could tell the production is on the cheaper end when the story is engaging and riveting but this movie isnt. Clearly on the cheaper end budget wise and with the story going nowhere fast you cant help but notice. Omar Epps does the best he can with the script hes given but man he deserves better. From Higher Learning to a small, yet memorable, part in Scream 2, to my favorite role of his in In Too Deep. He had his moment back in the 90s but watching him I couldnt help think hes still got something more to offer but this film aint it. The story isnt even worth mentioning as it all comes stacking on top of each other with no set goal. From getting his life together to someone in the family having ties to a crime thats happened to a new girlfriend and to family dynamics not quite sure how to blend it all together. Somewhere in this film there was a set goal and somewhere during the writing process they gave up on it and if you bother watching youll give up on it even faster. 1/2 out of 4 stars Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/22/22 Full Review CARLA A Movie was awesome and told a great story Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/22 Full Review Cheryl I loved everything about this movie. It is riveting, insightful and thought provoking. It showed the strength & beauty of families. In this case, a strong, loving Black family. The truth that the vast majority of Black men are kind, loving and honorable. It also gives great insight into the ripple effects of a loved one losing their way. Love, loss and redemption. Still thinking about and discussing a day later. My husband and I learned something. Excellent performances from the entire cast. Really sorry this is in such limited release as this is a must see for all. Looking forward to more collaborations between Omar Epps and Micheal Ealy.
