      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

For a werewolf movie, The Cursed is frustratingly lacking in killer instinct -- but its intriguing additions to well-worn mythology add some necessary bite.

      Audience Consensus

Too slow to be truly scary, The Cursed may frustrate viewers in the mood for a traditional horror story.

Mark movie was really slow, I thought it was going to be a modern day horror but was not. Plot was ok just took to long Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/16/22 Full Review Glosan1951 My husband and I are big fans of horror type movies. We like these movies that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Plus, the scarier the better. We would recommend this movie to people who like the gore. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/12/22 Full Review Peter S Great horror movie! Not based on cheap jump scares like Paranormal Activities. It actually is a story with a beginning, middle, a climax and an end! Love how the atmosphere and sounds blend in well together. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/08/22 Full Review Alenna Very confusing and wished it was actually scary or made me jump once? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/06/22 Full Review Jon B This movie had so much potential but fell flat. It was overly slow and drawn out with minimal scares and minimal creepiness. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/06/22 Full Review Goreal H excellent build up from the beginning. told a great story with a twist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/06/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times It is engaging, thanks to the way Ellis captures its era: not just through striking low-light images but also through a pervasive sense of menace. Feb 24, 2022 Full Review Tasha Robinson Polygon There’s a sumptuous feel to the staging — the costumes and sets all have weight, and the cast brings a compelling, convincing intensity to the material, but this is primarily a movie to watch for the visuals. Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Noah Berlatsky Chicago Reader Ellis has made it very clear that the emotional core of the film is the suffering of marginalized, displaced, and slaughtered people. Why then are we spending the bulk of the run time supposedly rooting for those who benefit from that slaughter? Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Samuel Leggett Jr. JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS The Cursed has some great shots and some moments that were very well directed. But in terms of the acting and story it is very fleeting. Just don't have much in terms of repeated viewing value and some great ideas but poor execution Rated: 4.5/10 Dec 26, 2022 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the arms-length atmosphere is perpetuated by an egregiously overlong running time... Rated: 1.5/4 Dec 18, 2022 Full Review Eric Marchen Rogers TV There’s no real silver lining when it comes to The Cursed, which is all bark and no bite.
