What even is this--I genuinely could not figure out why they made the husband to be the most unlikable jerk possible. I was rooting for the wife to leave him the entire movie. This man can't even do his own laundry.
I LOVED this! Probably way more than I should have. But I was utterly charmed by the personalities and the gentle humor and refreshed to see a film from this period about women's rights that wasn't offensive to me, here in 2022. What I appreciated most about it was that it addresses the issue of the day — namely, disruption of the household caused by women entering the workforce — without being hateful towards women or forcing them to give up their ideals. Loving and playful compromise is the name of the game here.
