Critic Reviews for The Collection Season 1
All Critics (12) | Top Critics (6) | Fresh (5) | Rotten (7)
The show is overcrowded with mysteries, mysteries that may be intentionally but seem quite unintentionally muddy.
If The Collection had been satisfied to be a show about fashion, I would be recommending it heartily. Instead, the murky and unnecessary string of overwrought mysteries makes it sadly skippable.
Overall, The Collection is a visually and conceptually arresting drama that shows potential - if only it would deliver more on the inherent emotion of its subjects.
The Collection, set amid the resurgent fashion industry of postwar Paris, will become a guilty pleasure for many once it starts rolling down the runway, zipping, tugging and pulling itself together.
It's glossy and murky at the same time, and mostly terrific, again in terms of (even looser) history.
It's likely that this ambitious drama may pass the British public by.
This show may be as beautiful to look at as the clothes are, but there are flaws all over the place.
The action pole vaults all over the place and loses drama and impact.
Beautiful visuals in emotionally flat period fashion drama.
Fault the writing and direction as The Collection strives for dark and brooding but rarely keeps it up for long.
The Collection can be pretty to look at, but first impressions will not lead to second glances.
The Collection doesn't shy away from violence and conspiracy. While often a sumptuous watch, it too often strays into the gaudy.

Sep 01, 2019Great Series. But, not happy about the ending if Season 2 is not happening. Feel like I just wasted my time. Need Season 2 to complete it correctly.

May 13, 2018Amazon has created yet another gripping series full of twists and turns of dramatic spellbound intensity...Claude the fashionista nom de plum...and Nina the sad and stunning inguine. The beauty of Paris post war German occupation and the glory, sadness and even death it brings with it. If you enjoy period pieces you will love The Collection! Matthew Wayne

Nov 20, 2017Something kept drawing me back. I liked the many story lines, made it a little more interesting. I liked Claude's ambiguity contrasted with Paul's directness. I know so many brothers like that. When they can get the best of their worlds working in synch, it's dynamite in a positive way. But when at odds, explosive and so negative. Loved the ending to season one. Mom knows best? Will watch to find out.....

Nov 18, 2017Loved this! Cant wait for the next season.
-
Nov 05, 2017I've heard a lot of people say The Collection is hard to follow, but for me, it wasn't difficult at all. And, in my opinion, it's worth a watch. I'm hoping it comes back for at least another season.

Nov 04, 2017I really liked it a lot. I think it is fascinating visually. I enjoyed the plot. The characters are appealing, actors are good. I certainly hope there is another season.
