BREAKING NEWS: The Bad Boy of Baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped.

Okay, that might not be the headlines in the newspaper this morning, but it's the reality of my current situation.

It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She got a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, what harm would it be to have her stay at my place for a while?

Ha! Total disaster.

Now instead of going out every night with my teammates, I'm couch surfing and sketching endless photos of my best friend . . . but that's the least of my concerns.

The disaster, you ask? I'm rapidly falling head over cleats in love with my best friend, my roommate, and my number one fan.

And she has no idea . . .

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Kingsley wasn’t funny or quirky or whatever the author imagined she was. I wanted to throw her in the recycling bin along with the trash she stashed on the balcony. Terrible character. It’s a no for me.

The Change Up is another one of Meghan Quinn's baseball books, and I can't get enough of them! I was so ready for the bad boy of baseball, Maddox Paige's book.

Maddox plays for Chicago and he has a reputation of being a hot head and bad boy. But with his best friend, Kinsley, he's a big softy. When Kinsley needs a place to stay in Chicago, Maddox offers his place to her without even thinking twice about it. Maddox and Kinsley are definitely opposites, but they work. They have been friends since childhood and they're each others 'person'.
She’s been a part of every milestone in my life that’s carved and shaped me into the person I am today. I can’t jeopardize losing her over some weird feeling that’s in the pit of my stomach.

When Maddox starts having some not so friendly thoughts about Kinsley, he's worried about taking that next step. He can't stand the thought of losing his best friend. Kinsley is feeling these same things, and eventually, they give in. Their chemistry is off the charts and when they're together for real, it's combustible.

Maddox was so lovable for me, and there were things I loved about Kinsley (mainly how much she loved animals and Maddox) but other things she was so pushy about and it drove me crazy at times (and this is coming from someone who doesn't eat meat and recycles etc). I did love them together and found this to be a fabulous friends to lovers romance.

If you're looking for a book that will make you laugh and smile, and one that is sweet, sexy, and a bit angsty, pick up The Change Up. I'm looking forward to more Meghan Quinn sports romances in the future!

Hehehe, I'm going to shamelessly admit that it was the cover model that drew me to this book.

Not bad, for my first Meghan Quinn book! I really liked Maddox. He's my type: quiet, confident and private. AND he's an artist too! A man who draws? Where can I find one?

But Kinsley though? Far out, she was so annoying! I'm all for being an environmentalist, adopting pets and being vegan... but she was so damn pushy about it (yup, she's that preachy vegan) and so insensitive to other people's boundaries. Maddox was a saint for putting up with her meddling. Throughout the book, Maddox establishes himself as a very private man who regards his home as a quiet safe haven. But did Kinsley respect that at all? Nope! Honestly, she had no excuse given the fact that she knew why he needed a quiet place to himself.

Even though she was annoying in that way, the author did flesh her out with some other quirky characteristics. So I'll give her that.

Overall, the whole friends to lovers and close proximity trope was written pretty well. Their relationship was pretty cute. I enjoyed seeing their romance blossom and how they tested new waters... I also liked that they had great chemistry and fun banter.

I think if Kinsley had gone through some sort of character development where she backed the fuck up with her vegan-recycling-bamboo preaching, I think I would've rated the book higher.

I'm going to have to be the odd one out here. It started out so well, and I was enjoying it so much . . .

Before it Fucked. Every. Single. Thing. Up.

I will tolerate a lot of things. Douche behavior can be chalked up to immaturity, and lack of communication skills is even a flaw that I have. I understand. Humans are imperfect. We all have flaws.

But do you know what I will not fucking tolerate?

Violence.

This book. Fucking. Sent. Me.

I was so excited for the best friends to lovers trope, along with a nice baseball romance, especially because I liked Cory and Milly's story so much. But this book just had to do me fucking dirty.

I was already mad because Kinsley was so fucking annoying. If I were dating her, I would not put up with half the shit she did. I have boundaries, and if my fucking partner cannot respect those, then done. No questions asked. She literally changed everything about Maddox's way of life. And I get it. Good causes. She wants to work toward sustainability. But you know what's common decency?

ASKING PEOPLE BEFORE YOU RESHAPE EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF THEIR LIFE.

Of course, if you asked me, hey your toothpaste is pretty unsustainable and is contributing to x% of climate change. Would you like to change your toothpaste? Here is an affordable brand that reduces your carbon footprint by y%.

I would fucking JUMP on it. For sure, I will change my toothpaste.

But you know what I am not okay with? YOU CHANGING MY FUCKING TOOTHPASTE WITHOUT ASKING ME.

Yes, I know. What a fucking petty example. But she did this with every single thing in his life. I would not tolerate that shit.

But whatever. It's okay. He tolerates her eccentricity? Power to him. Power to her. Go couples that are meant for each other.

Then Maddox really had to fuck things up. Violence pisses me the fuck off. No, you do not understand. I WILL NOT MOTHERFUCKING TOLERATE TOXIC BEHAVIOR.

For any of you who think I am overreacting, I was simply astonished by the prevalence of toxic behavior in this goddamn novel. Kinsley kept doing things without any communication or asking. Immediately all of Maddox's friends shut Kinsley out over a misunderstanding. And then. When Maddox fucking ruined everything. . . everyone KEPT TRYING TO BRING THEM BACK TOGETHER.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I LIKE TO DO WHEN SOMEONE MESSES WITH MY FRIEND?? KNEE THEM IN THE BALLS!!!!

But these bitches were just like, oh he loves you soooo much!! You guys have true looove!!! You are meant to be!! You have to forgive him!

Let me break something down for you.

No.

You don't. In fact, you shouldn't. I'm all about second chances. But there just was too much toxic behavior going on for me to tolerate any of it.

I'm honestly not sure where the line is between cutting someone out and giving them a second chance. But I have plenty of experience with toxic people, and don't you worry, I've given them second chances. Hell, I've given them third and fourth. I've tried to educate them. I've tried to help them.

No.

I will not sacrifice my happiness.

And these motherfucking bitches who pretend that love fixes all problems?

It does not. Thank you very much. The End.

And I'm out.

She’s my person.
My everything.

My heart and soul.
And I will do just about anything to keep her as mine…anything.

Maddox Paige is the notorious bad boy pitcher of the Chicago Rebels. We only started to get a glimpse into this tender soul in the previous book, ”The Trade”. Maddox grew up in a toxic environment, thanks to his abusive alcoholic father. Having endured his father’s rage for so many years has left an imprint on him. It’s why Maddox has such a short fuse and is often the first to be throwing fists during a brawl on the playing field. He keeps his personal life private and only a few people know that a true artist and gentle soul lay hidden beneath the rough & tatted exterior. One of those people, is his best friend from childhood, Kinsley. She has been there for him through thick and thin. Has always provided a safe haven for Maddox when he needed an escape from his tyrannical father. It’s been years since he left their hometown and made a name for himself in the major leagues, but through it all, they’ve managed to hold on to their strong connection.

Maddox invites Kinsley to move in with him when she lands her dream job working for an animal shelter in Chicago. He never knew that having Kinsley in his home would flip his world on its axis. She’s an unstoppable force of nature, but Maddox, while utterly clueless to his emotions, is completely enamored with her, and would do anything to make her happy. It seems these best-friends are both unaware of how the other feels, but they also fear the possibility of losing their friendship if they attempt to reveal what’s really in their hearts.

Maddox and Kinsley will eventually give in to their attraction and these two have the spiciest sexy scenes out of all the couples in this series. I loved their easy connection and found the angsty moments completely unbearable. Who knew Maddox would end up being a true swoon-worthy Hero??!!

Here are my overall ratings:
Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 5
Plot: 5
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 5++++
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5++++

Sports (baseball) | Friends to Lovers Romance

I never thought I would use this word in a review but WOWZER! This book is insanely hot!!! I think its Meghan’s sexiest book yet! Gosh, I felt like I was MELTING while reading it!!!! Ladies be prepared because Maddox is going to STEAL YOUR HEART. I am not even exaggerating in the slightest either. This man is pure ALPHA GOODNESS! He’s a broody bad boy who likes to fight, but also a caring bear of a man who just wants to love with all his heart! I wanted to cuddle him myself and found that I was a little jealous of Kinsley because she GOT my man! I’ll admit though, it is hard to stay mad at her though because she is the sweetest heroine I have come across in a long time. I love when characters have a heart of gold and oh man did she EVER! I saw a little of me in her too (not the vegan part though). She’s such a kind soul and loves animals just as much as I do. I don’t know if I could work in a shelter and not take every single animal home, but people like her are wonderful! We need more Kinsley’s in the world that’s for sure.

Anyway (I’m still fanning myself) this is a FANTASTIC friends to lover’s romance with enough spice to excite even the biggest prude. Maddox and Kinsley have a great friendship and turning that into something more was breathtaking to watch. Meghan does spin it a little towards the end with a jaw dropping fight that has the potential to cancel out all the good progress these two made, but the makeup and how it happens was MAGICAL. If you’re read Meghan’s books, you’ll know she has some pretty epic breakups and makeups, and this is one you won’t forget for a long time!

My review is clearly all full of excitement because of how much I LOVED this book! It’s going down into one of my all-time favorites of the author and HIGHLY recommend it to all romance readers! This is one of the BEST friends to lover’s romances I have ever read!!!!

Over the top pushy, frustrating, no respect for others boundaries and life choices heroine. Hero is ok, but I wasn't thrown off my feet by him.
I have all the respect for vegans, vegetarians and anything people choose as their life style, but I felt like every conviction and life choice Kinsley had was the only correct one and Maddox had to go with it. I saved some highlights to prove my point: she made him eat vegan food even if she saw he didn't particularly like it,got rid of everything in his house that wasn't "earth friendly", left her shit all over the place, brought home dogs and people when he specifically said he doesn't want that, and made out of his balcony a recycle garbage area.
I mean, when someone invites you to live with them as a way of help, you don't just barge in there and disrespect their space like that. The guy had a way of living before she came but put up with her craziness because she was his best friend and he loved her.
Anyways.. the lack of consideration for other people way of living just pissed me of.

"He lives alone because he likes that, and I refuse to crowd him."
You certanly didn't...(eye roll)

"He holds his hand up. “This does not mean I’m turning into a vegan. I’m just saying this particular item isn’t bad.”
I eye him over my burger as I bring it to my mouth. “I’m going to win you over one of these days, I know I will. Baby steps will have to do for now.”

"Oh, and just so you know, I took the liberty of donating your cleaning products and everything I’ve replaced to Finding Homes. We’re always looking for supplies . . . even if it kills the planet. We take just about anything. Which means we’re one step closer to reducing your carbon footprint. How exciting, right?"
fuck that big time, best friend or not

"But she’s pissing me off. Rules. I set rules for a goddamn reason, and it seems like she doesn’t care about stepping over all of them"
your fault Maddox, for letting her step all over you

there is so much wrong with both leading characters
sure I wanted to read about the bad boy Maddox we see mentioned in previous books, especially The Trade but boy oh boy..
wtf!!??!!
so if you care about animals and the environment, we can assume you are a good person
and if you are vegan, you are quirky and it is okay to have it your way of highway ???
aaand it is so funny when someone rummages trough your stuff and throws them away because you silly are living the wrong way...

characters are caricatures and it just bothered me!!!

Maddox Paige can get it!! He’s ruined me for all other book boyfriends in this series!

Gahhhhh! I’d been waiting, hoping, praying, and begging for Maddox’s story since we first met him. I knew it’d be something special and Meghan Quinn did not disappoint!! From this smoking hot cover to the amazingly touching story inside, The Change Up was a surefire winner! Meghan Quinn hits another home run!

Here’s what I loved:
There’s so much depth to Maddox Paige. His character caught me off guard in the very best ways. He’s the bad boy with a heart of gold and I couldn’t resist him even if I tried. He’s haunted by his past in way that he’s never really addressed. A creature of habit who Craves his privacy and routine. Not very much unlike myself. lolol When his bestie moves in, all bets are off and his carefully managed routine is turned on its head. It was so fun to witness. He was so sweet and broken. I just want to cuddle and snuggle him for eternity. I’ve loved all the guys in this series and never thought anyone would overthrow Carson as my fave, but Maddox is my new fave!!

This story combines humor, emotional storytelling, and complex real life scenarios perfectly! The history between these two characters allow for some cute moments that fans of this author will thoroughly enjoy.

Like the previous books in the series, this was a slow burn romance that burned bright once the spark was lit. Steamy and oh so sexy. The chemistry between these two was off the charts!

I really enjoyed Kinsley’s unique personality and quirky behavior, but the “Old Man” sort of stole the show. So much cuteness!

The writing, pacing, and plot are all very well executed and this book features some of the best grovel you may ever read. Highly recommended!

UGH I am SO MAD right now. I was expecting such good things for Maddox's story because helloooo childhood best friends to roommates to lovers?! But Kinsley ruined everything for me. I have a love/hate relationship with quirky characters and Meghan Quinn is usually so good at writing likable quirky characters. But I draw the line at Kinsley 🤢

Kinsley is oooohhh soooooo quirky 🤪 She loooooooooves animals and she is the saviour of Mother Earth. Kinsley never buys new shit. She keeps duct taping an old mattress where she once gave a blow job to some random guy. She'll continue sleeping on that duct-taped blow-job mattress even though the springs are poking out. Even though her best friend Maddox has provided her with a perfectly nice air mattress. Why, you ask?! Because she's sooooooooooo eco-friendly 🤪

Kinsley doesn't want to intrude in Maddox's bedroom because that's his personal space. But Kinsley thinks it's totally okay to swap all of Maddox's personal shit with eco-friendly products without his consent. Even his condoms are now eco-friendly!! Wow!! Good job!! Quirky Kinsley loves to save the world one eco-friendly condom at a time!! 🤪 Kinsley also loves making a whole ass mess in Maddox's kitchen without cleaning up after herself! But hey, at least she's cooking stinky vegan shit in the kitchen!! 🤪 Maddox, of course, has to clean up after Kinsley's mess because she's quirky like that! Maddox also needs to eat vegan food because that's Kinsley's choice!!

Oh and did you know that Kinsley doesn't ever wear bras because "what's the point when they're small and perky"??? Everyone and their grandma, including Kinsley herself, loooooveee to talk about Kinsley's pointy nipples!! Because Kinsley and her nipples are "fuck-hot"!! Everyone else has "floppy tits" which are uuuuggglyyyy 🤪 Oh and the "big-boobed" women that Maddox used to hook up with? Of course, Kinsley refers to these women as Maddox's own personal brothel. Kinsley herself is not part of a brothel even though she also used to regularly hook up with Stan. By the way, Kinsley thinks women are catty. But Kinsley herself is too ~quirky~ for cattiness!!! Okay?!?!?!? 🤪

Oh and the rule Maddox has about not bringing pets to his apartment? Kinsley is too quirky for that!! She must bring a quirky three-legged dog to Maddox's apartment without his consent 🥺🥺🥺 Kinsley is just too busy saving the world one three-legged dog at a time!! Okay?!?!?!? 🤪 She will also invite neighbours into Maddox's apartment without checking with him, even though he has specifically told her he likes his privacy. Kinsley is too quirky to understand the concept of boundaries, personal space, and privacy!! 🤪

Y'all might find this shit cute, but I don't. I can't. Maybe I was raised differently, but none of this is okay. I don't care that she and Maddox have known each other since they were 5 years old. He's courteous enough to provide her with a place to stay. The least she could do is respect his space. Maddox lets her get away with all of that shit because Kinsley is just too "fuck-hot" and ~quirky~ 🤪

Kinsley is a bit more tolerable in the second half. She does have her good moments, but I just couldn't get past her lack of respect for Maddox's personal space. I enjoyed seeing Natalie and Dottie again. Of course, Jason steals the spotlight with his shenanigans. I didn't find Kinsley funny at all, so Jason was the only one who made me laugh in this book. The romance between Maddox and Kinsley is well-written and the transition from friends to lovers is well-executed. Maddox and Kinsley are also kinky AF, which is not surprising because Kinsley's ~quirkiness~ is basically her entire personality.

As for the conflict, I hated it. Maddox is the one who fucks up and honestly? He actually pissed me off. I loved him up until the conflict. If Linc wasn't there for him, he would have fucked up even more. Maddox needs take some anger management classes. I understand that he doesn't want to be his father, but man, bottling up his rage and feelings like that is not healthy either. Anger management is a lot of work. It requires both mental and physical restraint. Maddox needs to find healthy ways to manage that anger. He needs a healthy outlet because beating the shit out of other baseball players is NOT a healthy outlet. Relying on alcohol on a daily basis to lick his wounds is also not healthy. The HEA is there, but I am not at all convinced that Maddox has "resolved" his anger issues. Nor am I convinced that Maddox has managed to sober up that quickly. GRRR I'm SO MAD. I was expecting to love this book 😡

Meghan Quinn always delivers and with The Change Up, she continues her sports romance series with a sweet, sexy and heartfelt read.
“I’m in this for the good, the bad, and the naughty.”

The Plot: In The Change Up, we get to meet Kinsley, Maddox Paige’s best friend. Maddox Paige is known as the bad boy of baseball with his dark, brooding persona and willingness to throw a punch on the field.

When his best friend is offered her dream job and the only obstacle is an affordable living space, the solution is obvious: “Maddie” offers his childhood best friend to stay with him.

He never imagined that she’d break all his rules starting with bringing home a three legged dog, nor that she would turn his world upside down will all her eco-friendly changes, much less the fact that he’d fall irrevocably in love with her.

I fell completely and absolutely head over heels in love with Maddox and Kinsley. They’re completely opposite. He was a neat freak, she was a slob. He didn’t like animals, her mission in life is to save them all. But together they make the perfect couple because they had known, supported and loved each other through thick and thin since they were kids. They were each other’s person.
She’s light on a rainy day, and she’s joy in a dark moment. She’s my person. My everything.

The Hero: I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again. Meghan Quinn knows how to write book boyfriends. Maddox Paige is a total sweetheart who hides behind his rebel persona and only lets his patient, thoughtful, and loving side out around Kinsley. Yes he’s a bit broken and he had his slip ups but overall he had no qualms about letting her know how much she meant to him.
Her confidence in me, her strength she instilled when I was feeling my lowers, her love… f*ck, her love got me through so much. She’s my person.

The Heroine:Being a tree huger myself, I absolutely loved Kinsley Howard and kudos to Meghan for creating her. But what I liked most was that she wasn’t afraid to put Maddox in his place. Their transition from friends to lovers was delightfully to watch.

The Feels: “He’s hitting me precisely in the feels, and he knows it.”

The help and interventions from teammates Jason, Cory, and Linc were spot on. I loved everything from funny start to sweet double epilogue finish.

The Change Up is a standalone contemporary romance by Meghan Quinn. It is a sexy standalone romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

This was really not for me 😬 Firstly, I need to start putting down any book that starts with friends to lovers where all the friendship building happens off page. Maddox and Kinsley have been friends since they were five, so the entire book is full of old references from their childhood and teen years that we don’t get to see.

Secondly, the big miscommunication scene was too much. Maddox kicks Kinsley out in a drunken rage and it feels so out of character. It made me not want them together at all. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️ On to the next

This was fun and sexy with a few hot scenes. I enjoyed it up until it got towards the end. As with most of the books in this series, the conflict towards the end was unnecessary and out of character for Maddox when the whole rest of the book he was completely different. I still enjoy reading these when I need a fun, light read.

The Change Up is fun, sweet, cute and heart breaking at the same time. Maadox the bad boy finally got his story. This is best friend turned to romance. I usually not a fn of this trope but Miss Quinn done a good job entertaining me with the story.

I found Kinsley is bit too much with her mendling and her extreme vegetarian living arrangement. But at the end I know why Miss Quinn build her character that way. Maddox groveling is very touching and sweet.

Overall a very good book to close my weekend.

First time I have DNF a book by this author, but quirky just came across as rude, disrespectful and preachy in this one.

I normally like your books. I hated this female character. Absolutely horrible. Forcing her vegan lifestyle on Maddox, flinging a air hockey puck at his eye, forcing an animal into his apartment when he said no, dressing a dog up in his suit, being a complete slob. Telling him he is like his abusive father. I'm not going to get through this and will return it early on my Kindle.

Hero was alright but the heroine 🤦🏻‍♀️🤮

1. Too damn quirky, not-like-other-girls, yada yada
2. She doesn't wear a bra. Like, at all. Even in public. (She believes it's restricting, literally and figuratively in a feminist sorta way. Girl—)
3. She got worried about taking pain medication... (I can just imagine her as anti-vaxx, ngl)
4. She's the worst roommate ever. I would've booted her ass real quick. Don't know how the hero put up with her.

Objectively, ~a bad book~ and last 20% was a big nope.
BUT— it's been a long time since I read a sports romance and I loved the vibes/feeling of it. Wished the story was better.

Maddox, the bad boy of baseball, and Kinsley have been best friends since they were five. And when Kinsley gets a job in Chicago, Maddox offers her his home until she gets her feet on the ground. Only he has a few ground rules:
No bringing over strangers.
No mess-making.
And NO four-legged friends.

What could possibly go wrong? With one of the hottest men in baseball and a woman to die for. Yeah, what could go wrong?
“Ahhh, Maddox.” Before I can even ask her why she brought Clyde with her, she throws her arms around me and pulls me into a hug. “Oh my God, did you make more muscles?” Make more muscles. Only Kinsley would phrase it that way.

I'm a fan of best friends to lovers romance but only if they're done right. I hate when two people have been friends for so long and then one day, BAM, they're in love. Meghan Quinn, however, knows just how to write friends to lovers. Nothing felt forced or uncomfortable between these characters. Their love for each other was so unique and had me turning the pages with a fucking smile on my face.

Cory just laughs, a good hearty laugh while he stares at me in disbelief.
“What?” I ask.
“Never in a million years would I have guessed that Maddox Paige, the bad boy of baseball, is a fucking softy with a heart. Nor would I have ever bet that you would come to me for girl advice.”

I loved Kinsley's, big heart. Her love for animals and the world was amazing. The steam in this book is not what we've read in Meghan Quinn's previous books. I will not spoil anything, but you'll know when you read that one particular scene. I had to pick my jaw off the floor.

The side characters were great, especially Linc, Maddox's friend. He had me laughing my ass off with his dialogue. I loved the friendship between all the guys and how they would give Maddox advice on how to win over Kinsley.

This book is one of Meghan Quinn's best work. If you're looking for steamy friends to lovers romance with great characters, this is it for you!

Meghan Quinn hits another home run with this one. The The Change Up is Maddox Paige’s story and I fell for him hook, line and sinker. I’ve been waiting for Maddox’s book since he was first introduced. This brooding bad boy of baseball has been on my list of anticipated reads and I could not be happier with this story. This is a friends to lovers story that ticked the boxes for me.

The friendship between Kinsley and Maddox was one of my favorite parts of this book and watching it progress was a wonderful sweet slow burn. I was so invested in their relationship from the get go. There is so much chemistry between them and so much history. These two are total opposites yet so perfect for each other. Kinsley is free spirited and a wonderful mess while Maddox is organized and likes to follow a routine. It was so easy to root for these two and fall in love with them both. They are beyond relationship goals.

The side characters of course played a huge part as ever. From the crazy hilarious bromancing to the ridiculous advice and outrageous shenanigans (unsurprisingly mainly from Jason!) They just added so much character to this book.

This book evokes all the emotions. One minute you’ll be smiling and laughing, then THAT moment will come and Meghan will rip your heart out for a little while and you’ll scream! But in typical fashion she will fix it in a way only Meghan Quinn can. With each book in this series, I fall deeper in love with all of the boys of baseball. I for one hope it’s a long, long time before Meghan Quinn runs out of these sexy, amazing players’ stories to tell, because I am LOVING this series!

The bad boy of baseball is whipped!

It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend. She got a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, what harm would it be to have her stay at my place for a while?

Can you guess? Total disaster. This is the story of how I fell in love with my best friend.

****PLEASE SEE BOTTOM FOR MY RANT ON HOLT ****

Ok. So here's the thing. I DO NOT like the friend-to-lovers trope. In fact, I refuse to read them. This book is an exception, I obviously knew that going in. The only reason I read it, is because I am invested in this series, and author. If one of my top-ten authors writes something, I read it.

That said, I am NOT one of those reviewers that goes all crazy googly eyed when my favorite authors release something and give it 5 🌟 no matter what. BUT, I HAVE given 5 🌟 to a F2L before...

I am stuck at home, not currently working, and reading A LOT. I just finished a series reread by another author in prep for a new release next week, and have had some crappy luck with new books in the days leading up to reading this.

So I feel like I'm a little jaded going in. I like the series, but hate the trope. Excited about a different book, but reading some trash lately. I'm frustrated. I'm angry.

So this story... I feel like..it just happened? They were friends. Then bam, they were more. But yet it wasn't fast. They were kinky, yet both concerned the other didn't feel the same way or see themselves long term. I didn't like the back and forth. I got annoyed. Maddox was great, yet he wasn't. Kinsley was over the top with the greenlife and pushy... Yet it worked?!

I don't know. I'm just. Ugh. And Meh. And Blah. So I guess that equals 3 stars. This was definitely my LEAST favorite of the series unfortunately. I loved me a tattooed alpha, but this just didn't do it for me.

NOW..... According to FB comment per Meghan Quinn, Lincoln's book is next.....

UGH!! OFYYIDHDDHDHDH!!! THAT'S How I FEEL! While I DO want Lincoln's book...

WTF happened to Holts book?! We got the first few chapters in Team Player 2 anthology FOREVER AGO and every teaser for a new book in this series I think it's going to be his. Now he isn't even mentioned in the new books and they are all out of college! Is his book cancelled? I can never get a reply when I bring him up..... 😭😭😭😭😭

I love this series, obviously felt this book was meh... But the setup for HOLT was the best in the series and now nothing?! I almost want to just give up on this series from the lack of communication on it.
