Nowadays, in a time of relative peace, the Star Wars fandom is split into two camps. One: The people who genuinely just love themselves some Star Wars, who were swinging around lightsabers as kids and whatnot and now look forward to every canon entry. Two: The fans who only watch The Mandalorian for Baby Yoda.

Unfortunately, we're here to deliver some bad news for the latter camp: Disney+ has released a new teaser for a Star Wars-adjacent TV show—and it's not The Mandalorian. (We still don't know when the little green guy will return, outside of his big Thanksgiving Day Parade debut.) Disney+ revealed a thrilling new preview for The Book of Boba Fett, which The Mandalorian teed up in a post-credits scene after Season Two's finale. After the famed bounty hunter from the original Star Wars series finally found redemption (after what seemed to be his untimely death) by helping out Mando and Baby Yoda, he'll finally get his own solo adventure in the upcoming series. Judging by the new teaser? We might get some more insight as to how, exactly, our man survived the Sarlacc Pit.

Here's everything we know so far.

When Will The Book of Boba Fett Release?

In late September, Disney revealed that the first episode of The Book of Boba Fett will drop on December 29, 2021. If you're keeping track at home, that means The Book of Boba Fett will premiere on the same date as the season finale of Hawkeye. Can't say that Disney+ isn't feeding its subscribers.

What Can We Expect From the plot of The Book of Boba Fett?

In The Mandalorian's surprise tease for The Book of Boba Fett, we glimpse Boba Fett and Fennec Shand triumphantly taking the throne Jabba the Hutt held during the original Star Wars trilogy. If you had any doubt, those two likely have some unfinished business. We can likely, at the very least, expect them to settle old beefs, and probably make some new ones along the way.

Here's the official plot description from Disney:

'The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

The first trailer for The Book of Boba Fett shows this battle in action. We glimpse scenes of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand roaming Tatooine, dealing with the consequences left from the end of Jabba the Hutt's rule. The fearsome duo, by the looks of it, will be dealing with both Jabba's old friends, enemies, and most likely frenemies, too. Of course, there's a lot of fighting to be done, with our man Boba looking like he's unafraid to get his hands dirty. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't give a holy-shit tease—instead opting to give us a soft reintroduction into the Mando-Boba corner of the Star Wars universe after some time off.

The new teaser for the series, which you can glimpse above, is relatively light on plot details—it only runs at only a TV spot-sized 30 seconds. That said, we get looks at Boba smashing someone up, taking Jabba's throne, and dramatically walking into cantinas. The most interesting bit in the teaser? There's a glimpse of an unmasked Boba underwater, looking like he's rehabilitating, somehow. This might be a flashback to the aftermath of his fall into the Sarlacc pit. If so, it'd be fascinating to see how the Disney hive mind imagines the fallout of such an iconic Star Wars moment.

Who Stars in the Show?

Now, we know what you're asking: Will we see any familiar faces show up in The Book of Boba Fett? We're betting the new spinoff will make like The Mandalorian and show its heroes meeting and facing new characters... at first. Then, once we've gotten to know the main players a little bit, the series will hit us with a Luke Skywalker-level cameo. (Well, maybe not that big...)

That sounds vague, we know. But for now, we're just happy that a fan-favorite character is finally getting the spotlight. Oh, and did we mention that Robert Rodriguez is steering The Book of Boba Fett? Yep. We'll leave you with his tease for the show, which we're betting will get you hyped: "Wait until you see what’s coming," Rodriguez told CBR. "It’s going to blow your mind. That’s all I can say. I can talk it up all I want because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it."
