Il Corpo - Geschändetes Fleisch, El cuerpo
Directed by Luigi Scatini (perhaps the only law school graduate to go on to a career in exploitation cinema?), The Body is built upon two equally important foundations: The Postman Always Rings Twice, and Zeudi Araya's body, specifically her boobs. Neither inspiration is the slightest bit subtle, with the narrative reproducing most of the key events of James M. Cain's novel, and the film's visuals packed with Araya's nude body, complete with bonus running on the beach, which is a lot more awkward that Baywatch would have us believe.
Unfortunately, despite its Trinidadian setting, the film is just not very compelling, due in large part to American star Leonard Mann, who is sort of like if Giuliano Gemma had a…
Obscure pseudo Giallo which takes obvious influence from The Postman Always Rings Twice. The plot focuses on a love triangle between a man, his young girlfriend and a younger man he hires to help with his boats. This film is a decent drama with a few memorable scenes; but it suffers overall from a lack of any real excitement. There's so urgency to the proceedings, meaning it mostly just simmers in the implications of its plot. There's a few sex scenes but the film never goes full on exploitation, as it is clear that director Luigi Scattini wanted to keep the focus on the characters. The seaside setting is nice, although the cinematography is not great. I did enjoy the…
This is my 99 cent vacation straight from Amazon Prime! I’ve listened to this soundtrack for years before finally watching this film. It’s a languid erotic-drama that might be a giallo in the style of the 1960s. Carroll Baker’s casting could strengthen that claim - even as it flips her from the former Queen of Giallo into a side-character. On the beaches of Trinidad, her future character-acting was foretold.
The ending plays like an Umberto Lenzi giallo from “Orgasmo” to “An Ideal Place to Kill.”
This film is beautifully boring in a way I would only recommend to fans of more melodramatic Laura Gemser movies (“Emanuelle: Queen of Sados”), Carroll Baker fans, or anyone who likes the 1960s pre-Bird giallo.…
An obscure italian gem! This film is in need of a remaster as it is very beautiful. I’d highly recommend this to those who can find it!
I finally watched this movie after listening to the soundtrack for about six years. The best part is the score, by Piero Umiliani. It’s funky, and lush, and beautiful; why don’t they score movies like this anymore?
If you want to see a hot couple roll around on the beach and pull off a love crime, this is the exotic b-movie thriller for you.
P.s the ending is hysterical and will go down as one of my favorites
Zeudi Araya is the most beautiful woman who has ever lived on film. Her body is a perfect negative, unforgiving as death and her hair her eyes her lips
Che bella..
Che bella..
Che bellissima..
Director Luigi Scattini reunites with his THE SINNER star Zeudi Araya Cristaldi(model-turned-actress) for this Trinidad-set erotic thriller that practically predates the 80s and 90s latter erotic thrillers, with Leonard Mann as a guy who works for an employee and falls for his wife Cristaldi, having a lot of erotic nude encounters with her both in her home and on the beach, with the newfound lovebirds then deciding to off her husband, which does happen but it comes with tragic consequences. The film moves pretty slow and is pretty hard to get into, even if its finale does pay off. Carroll Baker is in a small role(as a bar owner),who also gets it on with Mann(and she has a nude scene,as well).
How much do you love me? To the point that you would do anything for me?
Hope. Hatred.
A sick person. A chance.
A body and a nobody.
This shit is lowkey ass but there’s a lot to think about and the music is so incredible only watched cuz I found the soundtrack
Gustoso.
If it hadn't been for Carroll Baker, I'd certainly never have bought this DVD. Dubbed in German with no subtitles. Don't laugh now, dialogues are also important in this film set on Trinidad island even if the movie was primarily intended to spotty teenagers. Luigi Scattini is an auteur and his description of these four desperate characters stuck on a less than paradisiac island is worth a look.
Second Luigi Scattini film I’ve seen and like La ragazza dalla pelle di luna it’s set against a tropical backdrop (in this case Trinidad) and once again starring Zeudi Araya Cristaldi. Unlike that previous film this one forgoes the overt erotic vibe and goes for a gialloesque set-up of a love triangle, murder and double crossing! It’s fairly standard fare that’s once again saved by the lush locations and score, despite one of the more mind bendingly stupid conclusions I’ve seen in a while!
