Vanilla Fudge – The Beat Goes On

This album is psychedelia supreme! I am unsure as to how or why its not up there with the quote unquote "greats". I keep thinking about Ultimate Spinach whenever I spin Vanilla Fudge. This album is intellectual psychedelia. Genius is another word for it. With their first 4 albums, including development from the pigeons, you get to see how they plunge into the era and refine a sound. One of the few bands from the era still touring and making music! Just like Poobah!!! get you some Vanilla Fudge.

The Fudge takes us through their interpretation of the evolution of music over their time line. A nice concept album but a non emotional flow of music. Back then, when the album was pressed I'm sure listeners thought more of it than I do now.
I had this album when I was younger too, and was not one of my favorite Fudge albums. They were progressive :-), but sort of on a one way dead end street.

Is this a real mono mix or just a fold down?

First of all, this album as a concept is absolutely bonkers and worth checking out if you haven't heard it. I found it to be an enjoyable and fascinatingly trippy listen. Seriously, what did I just listen to?! I must say, this pressing is pretty good! Granted some of the interludes are intentionally meant to sound lofi, but the serious full band instrumentals sound great with deep defined bass, and a nice soundstage with good separation. What a crazy album...

This must be one of the craziest records ever put out by squaredads.
If you find it cheap, grab it up and be prepared.
