Samuel V It's has some "Home alone" vibe, but much more gory. Not great, but not bad by all means. Acting is pretty interesting with some pretty convincing scenes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Dan I Great movie. Doesn't take itself seriously and has great kills. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Jeff M What a fantastic surprise! This is the horror movie for those who hate horror movies - a funny, clever satire on the genre with tongue firmly chanted in cheek, game performances and an overall sense of fun. In fact, I think this succeeds even more than the SCREAM movies as fun as they are. Lewis is quite wonderful and endearing as our young hero, and Weaving is absolutely hypnotic and plays the titular babysitter perfectly - I'm not ready to call her the next Meryl Streep yet, but she understands exactly what the role needs and couldn't be better or more fun. The movie has a lot of fun skewering the cliched roles we see in most horror movies - the self-absorbed cheerleader, the high school stud who always finds a reason to take off his shirt, the oblivious parents, the bully whose goal in life is to torture the protagonist, etc. One could argue that it goes off the deep end in its final moments, and there are a couple gory moments I could have done without, but overall it's a really good time, and I enjoyed it immensely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Flick F The Babysitter is a pretty good movie with an interesting storyline and some really funny moments. It has a lot of gore and is pretty immature at times, but overall a good watch. Ryan Larson Ghastly Grinning Director McG and writer Brian Duffield deserve a lot of credit for The Babysitter, it isn't groundbreaking but it's a damn fun film that has just enough laughs and just enough gore to keep everyone interested. Jun 24, 2020 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Me gusta el cine Despite failing to deliver on everything promised during its first twenty minutes, it should satisfy fans of the genre. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 17, 2020 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review Doesn't break the rules we've come to abide in the genre, if anything it follows them to a tee, but it's delight in being supremely distasteful earns the film a charm that's sorely been missed. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 15, 2020 Full Review James Gates Cultured Vultures Filling a movie with horror archetypes (narcissistic cheerleader, psychotic jock, sassy comedic foil) isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this is a movie that at times feels woefully archaic. Oct 23, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid Essentially a chase movie, but zippy, sexy, darkly funny, and constantly creative, with a fluid sense of space and movement, as well as lots of blood. Rated: 3/4 Aug 23, 2019 Full Review John Tones Espinof Perhaps a script that could have taken better advantage of the idea and the supernatural element would have helped us to forgive their mistakes.
