A deeply pro-war film in which a pathetic child who gets ten bells of shit kicked out of him daily takes out his internal rage on a colony of extremely racist ants and thus gets shrunken and kidnapped by said colony via dark ant magick performed by Nic Cage, all while subplots of dementia and neglect and impending doom galivant freely around scenes inside filthy frog stomachs in which a fly holds up the dismembered head of an acquaintance; sinew and tendons dangling freely from the neck, and harrowing janky 2000s renderings of animations of salivarous false teeth falling from the sky and shag carpet as insurmountable fibres of despair. An insidious masquerade of abject horror and unshakable dread hidden inside a kids animation. Unironically needs remaking leaning in on the dark shit.

Out of my 20 years of life, the one bug pulling the decapitated bug head from the frog’s stomach acid is still the most unsettling and disturbing thing I’ve ever seen in a film of any kind
The ONLY reason I remember this movie is because I saw it in theaters once and haven’t seen it since. And every once in a while I remember it exists and wonder “what ever happened to this movie, did it ever develop a cult following like other terrible mid 2000s kids movies.” Well fortunately it hasn’t. Maybe for the best because wow is this movie bad. The main villain is like the Verminator but worse. Nicholas Cage is in this, thought you might like to know. Glad I never have to watch this fever dream again because yikes has it not aged well at all.
