Each yacht must purchase a Transit Log, which is the travel document of the yacht during her stay in Turkey and states the yacht’s master, owner, intended ports in Turkey and registered inventory. In the case that the boat owner goes out of the country when his/her yacht is at the marina, the situation must be reported to Customs Administration with the title “Admission for Wintering”. The relevant part of Transit Log must be filled so it can be cancelled. If not, Customs Office imposes a fine for every missing step/document. In case the yacht owner stays in the boat or sails around Turkey or leaves the boat for a long time in the marina for a purpose of visit or business, he/she does not need to carry on or correspond on wintering procedure. The Transit Log is valid until date of expiry. The bottom line is the person that leaves the boat should be the yacht owner, rather than crew. Two weeks before the Transit Log expires, the yacht owner should fill out a form and sign it to renew the Transit Log. A new Transit Log must be prepared in case the yacht owner comes back to Turkey and sets sail.

If a yacht is leaving Turkish waters (even for a brief period) and planning to return within the time the transit log is valid, it must be surrendered on departure, and a new one obtained on re-entry.

When departing for foreign ports, yachts are required to complete full clearance procedures and surrender of the Transit Log with Harbour Master, Passport Police, and Customs, in that order.

Although the Certificate of Registry does not have a certain period of validity, the Visa has. The yacht owner should pay a fee and endorse it.

There is no obstacle regarding special yachts’ cruising, so one can set sail for all seas of the World as long as the yacht is capable of doing it.

Departure from Turkey must be from an official Port of Entry and an agent is required to prepare all the paperwork and submit it to the various authorities.

Prior to clearing out, it is recommended cruisers speak to the Harbour Master first. Double handed yachts (just two crew) have reported that they were not required to use an agent for clearing out, in particular in Bodrum. Agents charge approx. 85 Euros for this service.

Please note that Visas for individuals are multiple entries, but the Transit Log is not. If Turkey is left in an emergency, without having been able to clear out correctly, the completed Section V should be handed into a Turkish consulate abroad within one month, otherwise, the yacht cannot return.

As it’s stated in the operating regulations of our marina, a yacht which shall utilise the Marina must maintain a valid and adequate third party liability insurance which covers the yacht owner, yacht crew and yacht’s guests. Any insurance policies which shall expire within the period of time as designated in the mooring contract must be renewed in due time by the yacht owner. Otherwise, Marina Management is entitled to terminate the mooring contract of the yacht and to remove her from the Marina. Teos Marina informs the yacht owner 1 month prior to expire date of the insurance. In case the yacht owner does not renew the insurance policy, Teos Marina has a right to renew it and charge the yacht owner.

The yacht owners must provide the Marina Office the following documents after entering the marina.

For Turkish Flagged Boats;
* Certificate of Registry
* Insurance Policy
* ID

For Foreign Flagged Boats;
* Registration
* Certificate of Authority
* Insurance Policy
* ID/Passport

Foreign-flagged yachts, on condition that they are sailed by their owners once every two years, can remain in Turkey up to five years without a requirement for any permission.

The transit log is valid for one year (365 days) and is renewable several times. The boat needs to leave the country (for one day) at least once every five years.

The transit log remains valid even if the yacht is laid up. If the owner leaves without the yacht, the transit log will still be valid on return provided that date is within the 365-day period.

The transit log is single entry, if you check out, you need to buy a new one at re-entry. The existing Transit Log must be cancelled and a new one obtained if there is a change of owner.

Any yacht coming from abroad must fly the Q flag and complete formalities at an official port of entry.

On entry, formalities are completed with Harbour Master, Health, Passport Police and Customs in this order. The agent will require the ships papers, insurance certificate, skippers license, and passports.

All declarations regarding customs, passport, medical treatment, port, yacht, yachter and crew are registered to Transit Log.

According to legislation on the foreign-flagged yachts and the yachts coming from foreign ports, the declarations and transactions made by the officers in the first Turkish Port they reach are valid without any need to take further action in the Turkish Ports that they will visit later until the final departure.

The yachts that winter in Turkey, the process of the cited document are made in wintering quarters. Taking the Turkish Ports Yacht Registration of yachts and yachtsmen it has completed the login process would have entered Turkey.

A new policy is now planned, and short-term residence permits will be granted for two years. Passports must be valid for two months beyond this period before a permit is issued. It is no longer possible to get a visa on arrival in Turkey. Visitors must now obtain an e-visa online before travel.

While e-visas are valid for 180 days, holders are only allowed to stay in Turkey for up to 90 days in ANY 180 day period. Multiple visits are allowed provided the total number of days does not exceed 90. All calculations should include both the entry and exit dates, no matter what time of day or night. Remember – while the visa is multiple entries, the boat’s transit log is not. So checking your boat in and out multiple times may not be practical.

Foreigners who intend to stay in Turkey longer than the visa or visa exemption period, or in excess of ninety days, are obliged to obtain a residence permit (see information below).

Note: the residence permit will become invalid if not used for six months.
