Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting local & rail history. Great to be able to go through the carriages. Extremely friendly staff. A good glimpse into yesteryear.

An exhilarating walk with amazing views. The steep rock face is a challenge but slow and steady and follow the markers to the top. The longer walk down though the forest was equally amazing. Be sure to carry water on a hot day.

The dirt track of about 14 km has been upgraded providing access to any cars to the site. Even the walking track has been stabilized. The falls are great and fairly high.

Expected to see this HUGE tree in a parkland. Instead is just on a block in-between houses. It is well worth a look, and does have a sign. Amazed it's still standing.

This old saddler premises, is just off the Main Street through the town. Very interesting, but made more so because of Peter Allen.

We decided to do Tourist Drive 9 which took you through these incredible granite boulder formations.
Towards the end of the drive there was a turn to the right which led to the top of the mountain and Mt McKenzie lookout.
The view over Tenterfield was great and there was a nice picnic shelter with seating and a bbq. There was also a drop toilet.
Nice country drive with fabulous views.

This is a really easy little gem to bypass but well worth the stop. The kids (and adults) loved thinking about how and why Captain Thunderbolt would have used these granite boulders as a safe haven. They're so interesting to walk through. The walk to the hideout is short but interesting. Only about 15 minutes and really easy with kids. Would definitely recommend getting out of the car to have a look.

Basket Swamp NP is the little sibling to Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo, but worthwhile in its own right.

A less developed park with few facilities, including rougher tracks, a higher clearance vehicle would be best although I suspect a 2WD could get to Blasket Falls with care.

Basket Falls are well worth the effort: try to get down to the river below to view the lower falls: it is a steep 500m walk but so worth it.

We also visited Timbarra Trig which provided extensive views to the north, including Tenterfield and well beyond.

We drove on out to Woollool Woollollni aboriginal site, here 4WD is helpful, but did not walk out the 400m path to the site itself: at the parking area a rundown shelter with a pile of rubbish, bags of empty alcohol bottles and an abandoned, unplated sedan left us feeling uncomfortable. It is a shame a lace of significance is treated without due respect.

This aside, the NP itself worth visiting. We did not see anyone else visiting on this midweek day we went.

Firstly I will say that the gardens, the food, cleanliness of the cafe and toilets and the promptness of service here is excellent. Any visitor will thoroughly enjoy their time here.
My only concern was the attitude of the staff in that every one of them either seem nervous, unhappy or not enjoying working here.
I couldn't tell if it's an unhappy place to work or it's another reason...
Otherwise my visit with my family was our second visit within a fortnight and otherwise positively memorable.

Lots of information about the history here, pretty walk but it was a little over grown. Thunderbolts cave was a short drive down the road.

Basket Swamp in Boonoo State Forest (not to be confused with Basket Swamp National Park) is stunning. Drive through the National Park to get to Boonoo State Forest. There's a visitor area with free picnic and camping (rustic toilet facilities too). A short drive from the visitor area gets you to the Falls. Great spot on a hot day! Very relaxing.

Great place for a walk and lunch, especially if you're trying to break up a long car trip. The locals let their dogs off the leash, so I guess visitors are welcome to do the same

This gorgeous little studio was a delight to visit. Beautiful items and it was nice to just have browse. It’s in such a beautiful setting and a lovely scenic drive from the centre of town. Highly recommend!
