Seeing this album as a product of some proggie wannabes could lead to a poor assessing of its qualities... and that would be a sad mistake. Spirit was the brainchild of guitarist Randy California, an unrepentant follower of Jimmi Hendrix lead, and undisputed icon of the hippie psychedelic movement.
