A rat-infested scuzzfest of a movie that would probably never get made today. The members of the vicious street gang here are utterly repugnant, the apartment tenants are likable and developed underdogs (excluding the pig of a building manager), and its violence, tone, and atmosphere are all gritty as fuck (watch for a pleasant sequence involving a broom handle ;)). This is one for those who can appreciate 80's New York cinema and all of its ugly charms.

Sadistic and nihilistic, Tenement is an essential piece of urban warfare sleaze. I noticed Findlay has more cinematography credits than anything else on her imdb which makes total sense, this movie has a well executed ugly tone. It's not perfect, it comes complete with the standard b movie production flaws of it's time it's just not distracting enough to make it unwatchable. And it doesn't matter anyways. If you're the type of dummy whose suspension of disbelief for this type of thing is developed it's tough to beat.
