Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Tara Haggerty

I have been an Academic Support teacher at Tenafly High School since 1995 and am currently on the 12th grade team. Before coming to Tenafly, I taught at a private school for students with behavioral and emotional difficulties. I received my BS in Special Education and my MS in Learning Disabilities, both from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (Go Huskies!!!). My goal is to help all students learn to the best of their ability while promoting independence, responsibility, and advocacy skills.

I am the very proud mother of 2 daughters. One graduated this past May from The George Washington University and one is currently a junior there...Raise High Colonials!!! My oldest double majored in Archaeology and Classical & Ancient Near Eastern Studies with a minor in Anthropology, and will be attending the University of Cambridge this fall for an MPhil degree in Assyriology. My junior double majors in Environmental & Sustainability Sciences and Geography with a minor in Geographical Information Systems
My advice...take advantage of all life has to offer and live it to the fullest! Always Believe!

CONTACTING THE TEACHER (for parents of seniors):
Please understand that because your child is a HS senior, as part of the transition process I will be communicating a great deal directly with your child. Once your child graduates, their college/employer/etc. will go directly to them to handle any situation (positive or negative) that arises. One of our goals this year is to help your child learn how to deal with these situations. BUT, don’t worry! I will still be communicating with you, just “behind the scenes.” As always, please don't hesitate to contact me should you have a question or concern to discuss. The best way to reach me is through email.
