The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Wes Craven’s 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes gets overshadowed by his bigger movies and even by its own 2006 remake, but it’s still one of the best entries in Craven’s filmography. When a family has car trouble in the middle of the desert, they find that they’re being stalked by another family, a clan of cannibals that live in the hills. To survive, the civilized family will have to become just as savage as their attackers. The Hills Have Eyes features some unforgettable characters and performances,

Supermassive Games Working On Next Horror Project, Due Out in 2025 or 2026

Supermassive Games Working On Next Horror Project, Due Out in 2025 or 2026
Supermassive Games is diving once again into horror with its upcoming project, which will no doubt please fans of their recent efforts in The Quarry, and in the ongoing The Dark Pictures Anthology.

Speaking with Video Games Chronicle, Supermassive Games studio director Will Byles stated that the team’s next horror project will be about the same scale as The Quarry, with a targeted release of 2025 or 2026. “We’ve started working on [the next game]. I can’t really tell you very much at all about it, but we have started. Again, it’s the same sort of horror genre, we’re sticking to that. It’s equivalent in size to The Quarry… and that’s about as much as I can say without giving too much away.”

Byles did allude to what can be seen as a departure from what Supermassive Games had done with their horror games in the past. “I

Why The Quarry’s Ted Raimi Loves Being “The Horror Guy”

Why The Quarry’s Ted Raimi Loves Being “The Horror Guy”
With a resume that reads like a horror geek’s ultimate movie marathon, Ted Raimi has been making unforgettable contributions to the genre for decades. From his brother Sam Raimi’s beloved Evil Dead films to classics like Candyman and The Grudge, he’s just about seen and done it all when it comes to horror. But when he signed on to join the cast of The Quarry, Supermassive Games’ latest entry in their signature line of choose-your-doom horror games, he stepped into a project that felt entirely new.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before,” Raimi tells Den of Geek. “On other games I’ve done before, developers will create characters based on images of you, and then you come in later and just voice the thing. But for The Quarry, my castmates and I were on set, interacting with each other in real-time. All of the

‘The Quarry’ Review (PC)

‘The Quarry’ Review (PC)
For horror fans there is something fun about being in control of the victims of a horror game. Supermassive Games proved this well with Until Dawn. Now it’s time to collect another group of teens and stick them in a summer camp ready to be the victims. The question is will The Quarry be as fun as Until Dawn?

When all of the kids have left the camp at Hackett’s Quarry the only job now is to get the counsellors out of there. When the car won’t start though, much to the annoyance of the camp owner the teens have to stay another night. A night that ends up full of danger, terror, and potential terror unless you can help them survive it.

For fans of eighties horror the very fact that The Quarry takes place at a summer camp will have them looking for a Jason Voorhees type character,

David Arquette on new horror game The Quarry, bringing back Scream & what attracts him to the darker side of storytelling

David Arquette on new horror game The Quarry, bringing back Scream & what attracts him to the darker side of storytelling
Having interviewed David Arquette two years ago for the release of his documentary, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to speak to the actor again, but this time, for something a little different. Arquette is one of the stars taking on a role in new interactive horror video game, developed by Supermassive and published by 2K Games, and is released on all major platforms today. We discussed his own relationship with games growing up, whether he’s competitive, and what it’s like seeing his own face in a game. He also talks about the return of Scream, and discussing the most recent sequel with fans – and we of course ask whether he may return for another….

How did you come to be involved in The Quarry?

They came to me and were interested in me doing it because of my horror background. Y’know it being this teen horror video game,

In Praise Of Ted Raimi, The Other Raimi

In Praise Of Ted Raimi, The Other Raimi
First, a confession: This article's headline is a little inaccurate. We're actually going to talk about the two other Raimis who've led fruitful careers in showbiz, in addition to director Sam Raimi.

The first of them, Ivan Raimi, is a physician who co-wrote "Darkman," "Army of Darkness," "Spider-Man 3," and "Drag Me to Hell," all of which were directed by his brother Sam. Ivan and Sam Raimi also co-created the action-adventure series "Spy Game" and helped develop the TV show "Ash vs. Evil Dead," on top of penning a trio of episodes for the horror anthology series "50 States of Fright." Ivan Raimi's body of work is a bit limited...

Xena The Warrior Princess Had A Sneaky Cameo In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man

Xena The Warrior Princess Had A Sneaky Cameo In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man
Director Sam Raimi sure does love to have his "Evil Dead" trilogy star Bruce Campbell show up in his other movies, and who can blame him? Of course, the groovy actor is far from the only member of Raimi's inner-circle to appear time and time again in his films and TV shows. Campbell famously cameoed in all three of Raimi's "Spider-Man" movies, leaving it to audiences to devise their own wild theories about the in-universe connection or lack thereof between his characters.

Meanwhile, Sam Raimi's brother, Ted Raimi, has similarly popped up "Where's Waldo?" style in his...

Some of them are good, but most of them are bad, really bad. Lucy Lawless Foresees a Xena Reboot Happening in the Near Future
Lucy Lawless is very well appreciated for her run as the titular heroine in the fantasy adventure series Xena: Warrior Princess, and the actress recently weighed in on the possibility of a reboot. Originally airing for six seasons between 1995-2001, Xena has developed a strong cult following with the series often talked about by fans. With so many other classic shows of the era getting modern revivals and reunion specials, some fans have wondered if more Xena could be coming soon.

Though she can't be specific, the actress hints that a new take on the series is currently in the works with a pitch that managed to impress Lawless. 2021 Emmy awards nominations ballot: See the 37 Best Limited Series contenders from ‘Behind Her Eyes’ to ‘Your Honor’
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 28 to cast their 2021 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. In the past, voters were limited in the number of programs that they could put forth. Four years ago that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.

While the comedy and drama series ballots have each maintained an average of over 100 entrants in recent years, there have nearly always been fewer than 40 choices in the limited series genre. There are 37 shows on the list this year, which is down by four from last year. There were 35 in 2019, 33 in 2018, and 25 in 2017. Five series from the list below will make the cut and be announced as Emmy nominees on July 13.

How to Shoot an Indie Film During a Pandemic

How to Shoot an Indie Film During a Pandemic
Big-budget studio features like “The Batman” or enormous Netflix series are able to self-insure against Covid and manage to shoot during the pandemic, even when cast or crew do test positive. But how are indies managing to cope with all the new union and various local safety protocols? Without liability protection, Covid insurance coverage or confident investors, it’s difficult to get a bond or secure bank financing. For any film in the $1 million-$10 million range, this can be an intractable situation right now. Ironically, movies made for well-under $1 million — the true microbudget indies — are having a little easier time of it. I know, because I just shot one.

Last spring, I started shooting my new film, “18½,” a ’70s-era Watergate thriller/dark comedy in Greenport, N.Y., which is on the far northeastern tip of Long Island. Our cast and crew were all staying at a remote 30-acre motel and cottage complex on the beach.
