EXCLUSIVE: Ted Lasso fans, this is not a drill. In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+'s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series' studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Wimbledon owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.

After securing the trio, the studio is expected to start reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, so they will need to make new deals, we hear. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), the list is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). It is unclear creatively which other Ted Lasso stars may be approached about Season 4; the cast have all said repeatedly that they would be happy to reprise their roles if an opportunity arises.

Ughhhh. Season 3 was terrible and I really don't feel like there's much left to Ted's story.

I could maybe get behind a spin-off, but a proper Season 4 with Jason Sudeikis? Meeehhhh

I'll watch it but the way they just plowed through season 3 kinda soured me on the show.

Just posted this in the thread from the other week but happy for more of these characters.

Hopefully the break gave the crew a chance to look at season 3 and retool a bit.

After season 3 a spin off would probably make more sense. Even though I didn't love S3 I liked S1 enough that would probably still watch this whether it is a spin off or S4.

Season 3 was kinda crap, hopefully it's a spin off and Nathan isn't in it because I didn't like how they 'redeemed' him.

Kind of weird to do 2 separate storylines if Ted is still in America. I thought they'd do a spin-off without Ted where Roy and the team go on a CL run.

Not really sure about bringing Sudeikis back. Season 3 wasn't great, but it wrapped up Ted's arc pretty well.

Apple is probably paying WB a pretty penny to produce more seasons considering it's still their most popular show. I can imagine they've been pressuring them to get the crew back together.

Season 3 was a bit heavy handed at times, but it was still better than most comedies. I'll take a season 4.

I was going to say, with For All Mankind soon ending, Apple TV are lacking for shows that cut through to the masses. There are some amazing shows on Apple TV but Ted Lassi is the only one I've seen talked about in most of my circles.

Ehhh, show ran its course in 3 seasons for me, it was a good place to stop. Also I thought the show got progressively worse each season.

I know a lot of folks were upset it ended at 3 though, so I wouldn't be shocked if 4 happens.

If the plan was always to end at season 3 then I would say it's slightly worrying that they're making a season 4, but if the story is good enough for Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt then that's reassuring.

I quite liked S2 and S3. Despite what most people say.

I think Presumed Innocent was their number one drama. Supposedly Bad Monkey is doing solid as well. All WB productions too.

Thought Season 3 was the final season

It pretty much concluded the story and characters and Lasso achieved the main goal of Making the team good

Excited both for the new season, plus the new thread.

Let's bring on some new weekly NateHate drama!

I wouldn't mind if Ted showed up for an episode or 2 but I don't think I want him leading again. But I'd watch a show with Roy, Beard and Nate coaching.

Ted Lasso kinda followed the Sherlock arc for me, where the first season was fantastic, the second season they read the comments too much and went "Ooh, let's really lean into what people are responding to" and the third season was completely flanderized nonsense where everybody just became a total caricature of themselves.

The last season felt like the ending was rushed. It was a bit weird and disappointing. Another season? Sure, let's give it a shot.

Awful decision. They made a big deal about season three being the ending and wrapping everything up. Why undo it? Anyway it was downhill after season one for me.

Im surprised they haven't green lit a show without Sudekis. Just call it something different, I am sure a lot of ppl would still watch it

Season 3 was only mediocre if you compare it to season 1. On its own at worst it was just good.

You guys have clearly not seen a CW joint if you think season 3 is terrible

Are you thinking For All Mankind will end with 5 seasons?

Season 3 was terrible - even compared to Season 2 (which I think has some high points). And that doesn't mean CW shows aren't also terrible n

FAM can keep going for a while, the idea of the show as Ronald D Moore imagined it was to have a show that bridges the gap between humanity first exploring space to the Star Trek society of 23rd century. So at the very least it can go on for 2-3 more seasons.

The main issue they'll face is losing the main cast as this will likely be Ed's last season at the very least, but it won't be uncharted territory as they've been doing that since S2 and have newer characters coming in to take the torch.

Fuckin' hell mate, season 3 ended on a high note and was so good.

We don't need more of it.
