Great to visit this amazing theatre with very few people (there were two others when we visited). The Fornastetti plates sitting in seats was a great idea. This theatre is early 17th C and you can see all the ancient beams as you walk behind. Really kool.

We had no idea what to expect from this city but our breath was taken away by it. There are so many stunning buildings here but no wonder this is rated number one by this app.
The history around it is fabulous and well worth reading up on. It is also worth taking the time to explore it thoroughly and you will get lots of great photos.

We'd heard this was great but were unprepared for just how amazing it was. There was hardly anyone there (it was mid-week in November!) and we wandered through the theatre slowly to take everything in. We then went straight into the art gallery which was very impressive too.

Because this was rated so highly we went to see it. It's interesting but not a "must see". I thought the museum where this is housed was more interesting. This theater was certainly unique but glad it was included in a tour where there was opportunity to see other things as well.

wonderfully renovated 450-year-old wooden stage theater. the ticket is combined, the other 3 halls of the Pilotta palace are also valid. this is a full-day program. be careful, because you cannot go out/come back with the ticket!

This is near an underground parking area if you are driving, so easy access. It was also part of a "three-for" ticket with the Farnese Theater, National Gallery and Archaeological Museum all in the same spot. The National museum was the main attraction, with extensive paitings and other works of art. The Theater was a section of the walking tour, and well worth a look; amazing. The Archaeological Museum was really an "add-on" for us and our least favorite part of the tour.

Due to the Covid, the theater was almost empty. This theater is very impressive by its size and the tremendous seating area all in wood. A visit is a must.

We had read of this amazing place but to access it you have to go into the museum complex. We thought that you could just view it from the very grand entrance door but were told we could stand on the stage if we went through the picture galleries. This let us see some wonderful paintings by Correggio, Parmigiano and beautiful drawings by Leonardo da Vinci. The theatre itself is wonderful with an incredible incline on the stage.

The Farnese theatre is grand, baroque theatre all made of wood. It's gigantic in proportions: it accommodated about 5000 people; in the stalls there was room enough for magnificent shows including replicas of naval battles, in the XVII century. Destroyed by a bombardment during WW2, the theatre's very restoration is a miracle worth to be seen.

The Teatro Farnese is really impressive and if you are in Parma you can not miss it. The very impressive thing is that it is all made of wood, the proportions are grandiose and it will be very interesting to view a show in there. The ceiling is very high and when you step in you feel like a midget. Not to be missed!!

Is it possible to visit the theatre without seeing any show? Just a simple visit?
We'll be in Bologna the last week of October and would like to take a day trip to Parma. Are there any events or tours that are recommended for that time?

Hello,
Can you tell me what you thought of Parma in general? Is it city like? Or is it more of a small Italian town feel?
How long would you stay in Parma? I know this doesn't have to do specifically with the theatre but I'd appreciate the input.

We stayed three days in Parma, concentrating on the historic center only. It is a good walking city, many beautiful and interesting sites to visit. Great restaurants, local cuisine and wine are superlative. Stay in the historic center, you'll not need a car until you leave for your next destination.

This marvellous theatre to day is not an ordinary theatre but ONLY a fantastic museum ,a unique example of a Court theatre built in the XVII c. to astonish Cosimo De Medici who was expected to visit Parma.
Only ONCE a few years ago on the occasion of VERDI FESTIVAL a couple of Verdi's operas were performed. Therefore nothing is on now BUT you can expect to ENJOY one of the most beautiful sights you can ever think of.
