I'll start with the bad. It took me 4 hotel keys and 3 trips back to reception, and 45 minutes with the night manager before I saw a room. This is a very old hotel run by the Chinese government.
Once I was in a room, it was lovely. Nice furniture and linens, spacious bath, lots of dark wood and glass throughout the room. There was even a gas mask in the closet to use in case of fire! WIFI was good in the lobby but I could find no WIFI for room.
Breakfast was ok, but not great.
The location is in a very busy area of Shanghai, safe at night, and lots of stores and restaurants. I was traveling solo so I opted to have dinner in the hotel. BIG MISTAKE trying the Japanese Restaurant. Terrible food and service, and high prices. I also tried the lobby bar and found no one who spoke English. I finally pointed to menu and ordered but they would not allow me to take the glass to my room.
